It will be interesting to see what exactly did he say that violated the code of conduct.
People have linked to the council decision AND Peterson put up what he claims is all of the correspondence (doxxing the people who complained although I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he just doesn't know how to redact things properly and it wasn't deliberate).

You can look at it and decide for yourself.

Yes, a lot of the CPO discipline committee are just public citizens.

Four.
Four out of nineteen according to your link.
And, according to the CPO site, " Every matter is considered by a panel of the Committee comprised of two professional members and one public member of the College Council. " so the credentialed people outnumber the public members 2-1 on any review.

This is a move by psychologists, not the 'woke'.
How many times do we have to repeat this?

Peterson is free to tell his incel supporters about the 'horrors' of masturbation.
But not as an acting psychologist, who would think this a total nutso position.

These are both brilliant men and their words are sophisticated and nuanced. There’s a lot of “if this is a problem for you, this might be why” - they’re certainly not saying no one should ever masturbate.

although Huberman’s comments do suggest why it can be tough to get that second or third SOG!

By telling him that he can't say certain things publicly and that he should take special courses too teach him what and how he should speak next time.

That's how.
But there are legal limits on free speech, right?

Canada bans hate speech. There are slander laws. You can't stand up in the courtroom and tell the judge to suck your dick. Can we think of any other examples?....

Oh yes, professional associations have rules about what their members can say if they want to remain members. A lawyer can't write to another lawyer and tell him that he's an "asshole". A lawyer - probably - can't systematically and repeatedly misrepresent what a statute says and say that there is a conspiracy of all the judges to interpret the statute wrongly. (I've never heard of any lawyer actually doing that, btw. But it's what anti vaxxers - and Doc Pee - do all the time re science and the medical mainstream). It's call "deliberate misinformation" and it gets you kicked out of your profession.

Hopefully this helps you.

He's talking about guys who are addicted to porn and feel guilty about it and Huberman backs him. One of the foremost neuro scientists in the world backs him up, lol.
WTF is "addicted to porn"?!?!

Some guy who watches porn and jerks off a lot?.... If that's the case, the issue is focus, self-confidence, energy level and personal organization. Not masturbation addiction.

How many animals can Jerkoff? Very few. God made us with the special ability to jerkoff and the free will to choose to jerkoff. Jesus died on the cross so that we would be free to jerkoff with our god-given hands that can reach our god-given dicks.

Jordan has reached escape velocity, none of this threatens him. He will fight on principle.

The reason that Jesus was crucified is that the Romans were scared of him putting his hands on his dick. They wanted his hands as far away from his privates as possible.

Agreed. He can make more $$$ being a special guest on Fox and he doesn't want to actually be a prof or healer any more. His principle is making a shit load of cash.

Losing money, yes. Dysfunctional, no.
You're entitled to your opinion. Since you come from the side of the aisle where you're sensitized by anything that looks remotely political, this is what I would expect.

My opinion is not coming from the political. I simply believe they had too many people and were not doing a good job of monetizing Twitter.

People here tend to read what they want to read as in "Oh look Wyatt's defending Elon Musk!" I actually thought it was a stupid and pointless acquisition from a business perspective.

When Musk started his bidding, Tech stocks were about 50% higher than today. In other words, he bought at the peak for Tech. I don't think he actually wanted to buy Twitter. As always, I think he wanted attention. Debtholders will likely wind up being bag holders (as in holding the bag).

The winners were the former Twitter owners. They had been trying to find an exit for years and Elon bit. They sold at the very top of the market.

Elon's reasons for buying were terrific, but he should not have bought anywhere near that valuation.
Yep. Your average retail investor could get in and out of Twitter with ease. What Vanguard, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock and State Street were doing with those large Twitter holdings is beyond me. I think they got a gift from an unlikely source (Musk and his Arab backers).

The efficiency and effectiveness of a public company is that eventually they have to turn a profit to justify their raison d'etre. Twenty years ago, I wouldn't expect this statement to be debated but today who knows.

Ironically, the Twitter executives that Musk threw out probably couldn't have asked for a better financial outcome. Strangely, Dorsey rolled his Twitter stock into a stake in the new company.

I wouldn't call "I made a stupid joke and then trapped myself legally" a terrific reason for buying, personally.
But I agree that the real winners were the former owners.

I don't think he actually wanted to buy Twitter.
Considering how hard he fought to not have to go through with the deal, I agree.

As a clinical psychologist he is just declaring what the clinical data is stating without any political bias.
There might be some bias of a social nature. He's not as flexible on social issues as some would prefer. I think everyone brings some bias.

I just don't know if anything he says or advocates is really black and white a violation of his profession. Certainly haven't seen anything too specific from his detractors here. But you see, that's just my bias as opposed to there's.

Having said that, how many here have called out Peterson's making a buck (a lot of bucks). Couldn't there possibly be quite a few in the profession and the COP Board who don't like Peterson's popularity and his viewpoints based on personal bias?

Honestly, I'm still bewildered by the porn/masturbation undercurrent.

It's like a lot of errant posting that googling can correct. A quick search and you will find out that there are several studies examining the topic.

The ability to speak openly requires you have to money. You cannot be beholden to a 9 to 5. When your livelihood is at stake, you're controlled by those that can pull it out from under you.

Even if you challenge something that is objectively false in the status quo, you risk losing everything you've worked for.

JP has 6.23 million you tube subscribers. As long as You tube monetizes these videos, JP can certainly afford to take on the CPO in court.
