I'm sure it isn't the first time he has been dressed down by a foreign leader.
It's funny that Trudeau says Canadians like open talk but he is always tight lipped on issues here at home.
There are strong rumors floating around that when US Secretary Anthony Blinken was in Ottawa recently to meet Trudeau and Joly that he laid it on the line with Trudeau. The Biden administration is sick and tired of being Canada's protector and our lack of support for NATO both funding wise and on support for Ukraine (essentially 0).

As a result Canada is about to be asked to leave the G7 AND we are going to be kicked out of the 5 Eyes Security Group.

And the best part is Blinken delivered the news in perfect French as he grew up in Paris just in case the message in English wasn't getting through.

But hey, we are leading the way on gender identity studies, inclusion, fairness and truth and reconciliation.

These "strong rumours" come from where?

I doubt we will be kicked out of the G7. I believe we are already being shunned out of the 5 eyes security group. That was evident with the submarine deal between the US, Australia.
It's shameful we have a huge coastline with Russia right across from us in the North and we don't have a viable submarine fleet to patrol the artic. Not to mention any war ships to speak of.
It's really a national embarrassment.

That is your opinion. I am delighted that Canada is spending less on military.

Um...ok. Rumour has it...

But lets be serious. Trudeau may have fucked up diplomatically here, but at the same time, do I give a flying fuck what Xi thinks? The man is a dictator who has done horrible things to minorities in his country. They fucked with Canadian citizens because we followed the law with that Huawei CFO.

If you don't want to stand behind out troops, then stand in front of them next time they go to battle.
If you want to go to war, you know where you can go.

Looks like Justin stood up to XI in an appropriate fashion. Oracle, do you expect him to go to war over the comments?

We will continue to look to work constructively together, but there will be things we will disagree on
JUSTIN TRUDEAU
Trudeau cut off the interpreter to respond that “In Canada, we believe in free and open and frank dialogue, and that is what we will continue to have. We will continue to look to work constructively together, but there will be things we will disagree on.”

Xi responded: “Let’s create the conditions first.”

In the part of the exchange not relayed to Trudeau because he had cut off the interpreter, Xi had warned in Mandarin: “We should have conversations in a respectful way. Otherwise, the results can’t be predicted.”

Why would he cut off the interpreter so not to hear what Xi was saying in Mandarin.

Seems stupid and disrespectful.
