You can't compare the US to Canada. We don't have Thousands of migrants rushing our border.

And I've always found the topic of immigration in Canada interesting. Most immigrants I've talked with tell me they don't really like it here. 😁

Your experience is different than my own. i come in contact with quite a few immigrants and almost without exception they think Canada is the greatest country in the world.

Agree regarding the US.

Canada does require immigration to maintain economic growth.
This is a non-debatable fact

Most immigrants I have encountered are genuine hard working people with strong family values & most seem to appreciate the opportunity for a new life in Canada

The points system under PM Harper was focused on bring in productive immigrants with educations and marketable skills who should be a positive for Canada

The issue is the liberal government (Ahmed Hussen) changed the points system so anyone with a pulse qualifies and the liberals greatly increased the numbers
The changes were ideologically driven via instructions from the UN & WEF and will cost Canada billions in extra services costs.

Roxham road is a disgrace
If you do not have control over the boarders you do not have a manageable immigration policy

As Slick Willy said ' there is a limit"

and Justin is too stupid to get that limit right

I'm pointing out that you are trolling.
If you weren't, you could lay out some non copy and pasted facts and present an argument.
Sure Groggy, the article speaks for itself, I'm sorry you missed it, everyone else seem to have understood. We don't need a special presentation. Keep trolling...😂😂😂😂

Greatest Country in the World? That's just absurd.

If you are going to lie, make it a bit more believable.
LOL. Not sure why you think that unbelievable. i was born and raised here and at various times have lived briefly in London, NY and LA and i think it is the greatest country in the world in which to live. Not the most powerful but best country in which to live and raise a family.

Canada Becomes Best Country In World, Ranks First In 'quality Of Life & Social Purpose'
Canada was named the best country in the world for the high quality of life and social function. It was also rated top in terms of the job market, human rights.

this is irrelevant when discussing new entrants in the country based on a new watered down points system

Where this discussion gets twisted is the difference between illegal immigrants, asylum seekers and legal immigrants. There are those on the far right in the US that only want legal immigration from Europe - basically white folks. But, most people accept legal immigration from all over the place -- India, China, the middle east, etc.

Where things get conflated is, for example, what DeSantis did a few weeks ago. He sent asylum seekers, who were legally allowed inside the US, north as part of a publicity stunt. Places like Breitbart and Fox called them illegals, but they were not. Now, illegal immigrants....there are likely millions in the US. But, again, most people would hate what would happen if they rounded them all up and deported them. The agricultural industry would grind to a halt, many large buildings would go uncleaned, and restaurants would have no staff.

I agree with Slick Willy. There is a limit to the number of legal people the US (or Canada for that matter) can accommodate. There are finite resources available, and only so much support that can be given. But, at the same time, as developed nations, we need to do all we can to help these people.

Now, as for Canada's immigration system, it works quite well for the most part. Where it falls apart is when we have people who are engineers or doctors and cannot practice in Canada because of various gate keepers (like the Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons). How many times have you had a taxi driver who's an immigrant with a fantastic educational background, but they cannot get a job in their profession? It is a massive waste of talent. Canada needs this talent, as well as other immigrants. Let's face it, most of us probably have a parent or a grandparent who is an immigrant. I know most of my friends are in that boat.

Exactly. High levels of immigration into Canada has been a bi party policy since 1867. BOTH parties embrace high levels of third world immigration and the points system. But..... when the Libs are in power, suddenly the Sun and other rightie tabloids will suddenly start complaining about immigration to whip up all the racists in the boonies to hate on the Libs.

As soon as the Tories are back in power, all those tabloid rants suddenly stop.
Exactly…. The tabloid rants stop, and the avg Joe isn’t constantly being told the world is on fire… instead, he’s told how wonderful the Tories are managing the economy, and fixing the damage the Libs did.

Mark this post. Because I have seen into the future and will predict it now with 100% accuracy. Poilievre will be the next (elected) PM. He has already promised he can balance the budget early by cutting funding for the CBC ($1.2 billion?)… and other “Liberal” expenditures. However, once he wins, he is going to back track and say he had no idea how bad the books actually were (even though he was Finance Critic), and it cannot possibly be done in the time frame he initially said because of the Trudeau Liberals.

Right now, that is most likely correct. That might not be the case in the future, but at least it's heaven now.....
This is the scam of immigration. Oversell the country and the benefits coming here, then you exploit the labour or cash coming in. Once they realize it's not the land of milk and honey, it's too late.

But the truth is slowly coming out. What's promised and presented isn't real.

You seem to be ignoring where many immigrants are coming from. Compared to many of those countries Canada is heaven on earth.

Do you even know where many immigrants come from? Impoverished and war-torn Hell-holes. Compared to that, Canada IS the land of milk and honey!

This is a very ignorant comment to suggest that someone coming from a foreign country is the lesser.

You probably think people are still walking around in sandals pulling rickshaws.

Don Cherry is that you?

Pull up the stats on the countries we get most of our immigrants from, then show me the huge catastrophic war they are going trough.

The vast majority of them will not be refugees. They will be somewhere between the top and middle of their country.

Ukraine, many African countries, Russia, Eastern Europe, Arab nations....need I go on?

It is not only about wars. It is also about lack of human rights (many are guilty of not having enough) and being oppressed in general.

You can certainly agree that Canada is not oppressed in comparison, even under Justin, right? RIGHT?
