Nevertheless most celebrities wear (and many collect) Rolexes and a SS Rolex is a better hedge against inflation than many many other beautiful and less common watches. Here's the thing about fake Rolex's. And fake any luxury brands/goods.
For anyone that would recognize it, it is always glaringly obvious that it is a fake. And the person who you tried to impress, thinks way less of you than if you had no watch. In fact, it is a sure sign of an insecure phony wannabe.
And more specifically about Rolex. Among those who watches matter, Rolex is now pretty much considered along the lines of something a "Used Car Dealer" would wear. Some exception for particular authentic vintage models or wearing the watch you inherited is made. Both otherwise, a Rolex is a bit gauche.

I understand and agree with you, but it is still regarded as a gauche watch amongst high society. And I don't consider being a Celebrity as being high society. As an investment, sure. In good times. But as many have found out, the liquidity of these vanity investment watches is low and you end up dumping them for whatever the broker/jeweller wants to give you.. to make their end too.Nevertheless most celebrities wear (and many collect) Rolexes and a SS Rolex is a better hedge against inflation than many many other beautiful and less common watches.
Humans are herd animals - that’s the only explanation I have.
What is high society though if not celebrities? I would like to have friends who wear shit that only snobs would understand like FP Journe and to a lesser degree Lange. But in reality ppl who have new money mostly wear Rolexes, AP and Richard Mille. People who have old money wear inherited vintage watches.I understand and agree with you, but it is still regarded as a gauche watch amongst high society. as long as your third W is whiskey and not watercraftEdit: I don't know if it's a coincidence, but two of my vices in life start with a 'W'. Watches and women. Regardless of how many you have, you always seem to want more
lol. Women, watches and whiskey!as long as your third W is whiskey and not watercraft
Probably not. Might have a cheap Chinese movement.I have a cheap Movado and Tissot watch...bought them together on my first salary here in Canada...still tells me the correct time...will this Rolex be better at telling time?
If your friend had stuck the fake Rolex up his ass, she would have been properly impressed.I had a friend who bought a fake Rolex and gave it to his wife as an anniversary present. He told her it was real. They're divorced now...
Fonts overall are offWhat were some giveaways that made you recognize it was a replica?
Wow, that's impressive. Also, 500 pieces? How do you afford to hobby?Fonts overall are off
Hands are off
For blue face variant, contour of sub-dials is off
Given the reflections off the crystal, doubt it has any AR coating at all (which was first giveaway I noticed actually)
There appears to be more flex in the bracelet than should be there for something brand new too
Plus Cardio guy's observations
As I've posted in the watch collector thread, I'm a long time watch enthusiast and over the years have amassed a personal collection of more than 500 pieces of all kinds, from G-Shock all the way to the top end Pateks. I love the hobby, and am out buying and fondling watches in boutiques all the time.
Personally, I'd have advised you to go with a high quality Daytona homage. At least then you won't get razzed for wearing a 'fake rolex'.
Y'know, not every watch needs to be a high dollar value piece. I get a lot of enjoyment out of all my watches, even the $100-$200 pieces. In fact, March for me is G-Shock month and I wear a different one each day, morning and afternoon, every day. My clients get a real hoot out of seeing a couple different watches every day for a month straight! The sad thing is that even if I were to buy an authentic Rolex and wear it, most people would think it was fake.

I would probably give up a considerable watch collection just not to see my clients multiple times a dayY'know, not every watch needs to be a high dollar value piece. The only remaining question: why did you wasted $250? Something happened to your phone so it cannot show the time anymore? All good guesses, and the answer was right in the middle of all your gueses.
The watch was US $167, but after coupons I got for a little less. https://www.dhgate.com/product/cosm...-best/436737087.html?skuid=530877185669922838
$250 was the closest guess, and the first one by John Wick. When I saw the guess, I was like, "Damn, really? That's impressive." Knowing it was not authentic is one thing, but to know the level of replica quailty is anohter. Cardioguy, and Johnd5050 also agreed with him. Good job, guys!
This watch costs tens of thousands if authentic.
The replica I purchased was a lower tier one, but not the worst. It is passable and actually looks and feels pretty good, with no obvious mistakes. It would fool most people, but not any watch enthusiasist. I would think that nobody I know would be able to it was fake by looking at it. However, once you handle it, almost anyone can recoginize it does not feel authentic if they handle it. It feels light and cheap, with rough edges and cheap squeaks. I just bought it for fun, and maybe to use once in a while.
The higher levels of replicas are much better, and almost instinguishable from the authentic. They usually cost about $1,000.
