The only remaining question: why did you wasted $250? Something happened to your phone so it cannot show the time anymore?
Bought it for kicks. Always was intrigued by them. I would never buy a real one, but it's nice to see and handle something similar. I don't regret the purchase at all, so I don't consider it a waste. Although it's a replica, it still looks great to me, and I love the bracelet.

Your money, you earned it, enjoy your watch.

Nice review and observation. Thanks
Needless to say you have a couple of "jump hour watches" in your collection. Any tourbillion movements ?
So, my preferences flow as follows

  1. Dive watches
  2. Vintage classics
  3. Vintage gadget watches (jump hour, parking meter, alarm, asymetricals, etc.)
  4. Adventure watches (G-Shock, Ironman, Nike, Adidas, etc.)
  5. Chronos
  6. Dress watches

I do have some nice dress watches at every tier, including a top end Patek tourbillion moonphase, but generally speaking the more fancy and delicate the watch, the less enjoyment I get wearing it for fear of either damaging it or being seen as a pretentious ass wearing high value pieces for nothing more than overt displays of wealth. So, I guess I'd say my real sweet spot is is in the Sports watch domain.

Do you keep any of your watches on a winder?

Yeah, some. About 8 years ago I had a custom watch cabinet made with 25 winders incorporated so I have 25 watches teed up there. The problem I have is that recently I've heard new opinions in the community saying winders may actually be bad for your watch, so not sure what comes next. Maybe more research, but nothing irks me more than seeing a watch cubby/pillow sitting empty.

Thanks. You have an excellent collection to be enjoyed for many years. Cheers

yeah that's why I asked. I am tending to keep watches that take a long time to set ie month/day/date ones on a winder but simple watches like subs etc just on their pillows.

25 watches cabinet is insane though lol. Congrats!

When I want to impress my regular SPs I put on my Jules Audemars Tourbillon, which also goes very nicely with my first name ;). Unfortunately, most SPs have no idea about good watches, so efforts go unnoticed.

Haha.. That's the exact reason I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on a watch. The people who I would want to impress (women) would generally not know enough to appreciate it. :)

You are correct sir, however mine which I bought quite a number of years ago is slightly different than the image posted. I bought it pre-owned, not new, for $115k. Insurance assessed mine in 2019 at $350k.

Damn, and that's just one watch. More than the net worth of most married people!

Hey Stinky.
I am far from old but am getting the sense that I may have a few years on you. I also do not want to overstep but will offer my opinion regardless.

Don't ever do anything simply to impress someone else.
Don't be that guy that buys timepieces and leaves the stickers on them or turns them into safe queens bc they are afraid of a hairline scratch.
Don't be the guy that buys a car and is afraid to drive it and buffs it with a diaper.
Life and its spoils are meant to be enjoyed.
Physical possessions will never make you happy nor the people around you if you are not fulfilled yourself.
Be the guy in shorts and a t-shirt and flip-flops that wears an incredible timepiece that virtually no one notices or knows exists.
Be the guy that doesn't care what other people think bc you are doing what you think is right for you.
There is no better feeling.

I paid $110 for this Pagani Rolex Homage watch, I do not even need to pretend it is a Rolex. It has a Seiko movement in it. I do have a Rolex, but I no longer wear it much because I am afraid to scratch or dent it. ( it was a gift ) I also have a San Martin for $200 that is a good quality watch with a Seiko mechanical movement. Rather than buying a Rolex I can take that money and triple it in a year by investing it. I do not know if others feel the same as I do but a car is a car and a watch is a watch, I no longer crave the high buck items. Medium buck goods are fine with me.

Agreed.

Strippers can smell a Rolex from a mile away but are clueless when it comes to a IWC.

And we like it that way.
