Each store sets their own policy regarding the bags. But somebody who's a thief will try to justify their behaviour by saying they're "supposed to" be free, when in fact they're supposed to be what the store wants them to be.

Whatever the past was like is irrelevant.

lol over plastic bags that ripped easliy, why would i put how many plastic bags i used on the self check out. i spends lots of money for grocery.
Only No Frills loves holding on the bags like it gold lol, The No frills plastic bags ripped so easily

Why aren't they being recycled when they are placed in Recycling bins?
All my single use plastics are being put there.

Really the strongest 😄 🤣, it ripped on me several times before, I never gotten a no frills bag free. Lol why you advertise triple vaccinated

Lol you guys act like you never took a plastic bag for free at the self checkout before. You think stores care about plastic bags, at convenience store I go to , they don't charge nothing, give it for free,

Here's the thing the government fails to grasp. The ban on plastic grocery bags is idiotic, especially when the alternative is to replace them with paper bags. Plastic grocery bags (depending upon the type, No Frills are the strongest) can be used to both carry your groceries home, put items that may leak or be damp like 4 litres of milk, chicken, meat, fish etc. and can be reused as garbage and compost bags or for things like cat litter. Plastic bags can also be recycled. Too many, put them in the blue box.

Paper on the other hand is useless for carrying anything damp, anything heavy and tear very easily which makes them a truly a single use bag. You also have to consider the effects of cutting down trees for paper (no, they're not all made from 100% recycled paper) along with their carbon footprint. Take paper bags for example. They takes up way more space than plastic bags, which means it takes many more truckloads to transport the same number of plastic bags. That equals a larger carbon footprint. In addition, as a result of the heavy use of toxic chemicals in the process, paper is responsible for 70 times more air pollution and 50 times more water pollution than plastic bag production according to a Washington Post analysis, resulting in more toxicity to humans and the environment than HDPE bags. Yes they're recyclable, as we know, many people don't bother. As a result, the material most frequently encountered in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfills is plain old paper, it sometimes accounts for more than 40 percent of a landfill's contents. According to the US EPA. Things aren't much different in Canada. Once you take away the plastic grocery bag option, expect the amount of paper in landfills to increase.

I have a carload of reusable bags which are great when I go shopping. But I still need plastic bags for garbage, compost and cat litter. When I'm running low, I do a few shops at No Frills, pay my $.05 ea. and stock up. I guess once I'm no longer able to buy them, I'll have to go to the aisle that has plastic bags for sale. The ones that come sealed in wasteful cardboard box.

No. I bring my own bags. That is how I don’t support their greed. Because that is what adults do. They don’t steal. Unlike you.

I use the No Frills bags for cat litter and compost. I've never had a problem with them leaking. They're also only $0.05 ea. which is typically far less than you can buy bags of similar size and thickness for. So unless you're a thief, you have to pay for them one way or another. The No Frills bags are also better because they have handles which makes them easy to tie and carry out to the bins.

Lol you can't steal no frills plastic bags, the staff hold them tight with them, none are on the self checkout racks.i never gotten a free plastic bags from no frills. The no frills are just greeds, they plastic bags ripped on me at numerous occasions. You can get free plastic bags at metro, shoppers and other stores, they don't make big deal of it lol
