Such a joke. North Americans are such gullible sheep when it comes to environmental issues. What we do here in NA means absolutely shit on a global scale unless the likes of China and India take significant steps to curb their own contributions to the problem. They are the 80% piece of the climate pie. We are the 5-10%.

Call me when their climate plans kick in in earnest, but I won't hold my breath waiting for the phone to ring.

I just got a paper straw at Harvey’s, it’s not like those other paper straws. It actually feels like a plastic straw and it doesn’t start to shred pieces of paper in your mouth. This is the kind of thing they should’ve came up with in the first place.

This is a much better solution than using paper, I recently shopped at Farm boy and they put my groceries in a paper bag with handles. Needless to say the handle broke within 10 seconds. You’re probably better off having no bag at all like they do at Costco.
Farm boy also charges like 30 cents per paper bag.

Maybe you haven’t gotten out much but they don’t serve drinks in glasses at fast food stores. They give you a straw and I hate paper straws, I don’t like the taste of paper in my drink. Sounds like you do so you enjoy it.
A bit bougie I know, but I bought a metal utensil kit on Amazon (in purple of course LOL). Came with two metal straws and I have not used a paper straw since.

A bit easier to carry in my purse but it works.

Sounds like a good idea!
But my purse is already full of other things, I’m just not gonna have the room to put two metal straws in there.😀

Are they bendies? When you're sick in bed you need a bendie.

Actually one has a bend and one is straight. Don’t ask me why they came that way. I leave one at home and travel with the other.

Edit:

Here is what I bought.

Flatware Set - Travel Camping Cutlery Set - 304 Stainless Steel Portable Utensils Including Case for Lunch School Camping Office (Straw + Straight Straw + Knife + Fork + Spoon + Chopsticks + Cleaning Brush) - Purple

Of course there are other colours. Not everyone can rock purple like me. LOL

Sometimes I forget to bring my reusable bags to do grocery shopping, last month at Walmart , they give me a cardboard bag for 5 cents, and it rip when I was in the parking lot, it should be free. I hate those grocery stores especially no frills at self checkout, they don't put the plastic bags on the racks , the fuckin cashier had it on her hands, you got asked how much you want, she then punch in the the self check. I told her the bags should be free. At metro and shoppers drugmart, they have the plastic bags at the racks , I can take how many bags I want, I don't add it on the self checkout.
You're stealing bags from Metro and Shopper's Drugmart at the self-checkout? Sounds like a good case for No Frills doing what it's doing, wouldn't you say?

LMAO. Exactly. He is pissed they stopped him from being able to steal.

Watch him say it is Trudeau’s fault.

I prefer transparent, reusable plastic straws. I've tried the metal ones, they're ok, but there is something to be said for being able to see inside the straw to ensure is actually fully clean every time you use it. The metal ones are sometimes more difficult to get clean, but you might not notice there's still residue inside until it's too late. Call me fussy.

Biodegradable is not necessarily environment friendly. What happens after the bag has degraded if it's foreign to the earth its not environmentally friendly
Point well made, too many companies think they can get away with "greenwashing', faux conservation to increase profit margin. I'll explain it in accordance to the wisdom of Moe Howard: "listen puddinhead, it's either give up plastic bags or give up seafood".

Speaking of something that's not biodegradable.

The Harvey's near me has no paper recycling bin in the restaurant. So using paper straws is pointless.

You forgot to mention they can be sanitized and reusable for a long time. Plus no litter or plastic waste. Good for you

Ya. I edited my other post to include the link to kit I bought. Totally reusable and comes with a brush for cleaning on the go and is also dishwasher safe.

Even has chop sticks!!! LOL.
