I was listening to The Joe Rogan Podcast a little while ago and he had Matt Taibbi on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Taibbi

What was discussed is that most journalism today is take journalism not dig journalism.

Meaning they're not searching for the truth and where the story leads them. They made up their mind ahead of time and set out to argue that hypothesis.

Now this is nothing new but in this day and age the overwhelming majority of ''news sources'' fall into this trap.

Thus sowing a huge amount of divide amongst the general population.
Very true and mostly because you can't get to the really well paying gigs in journalism without the audience, therefore offending them is, these days, a career suicide. The viewing audience that actually cares about the news is extremely divided and likes their party lines. There are still a few decent guys out there like Bob Fife in Canada or Stossel and Greenwald in US, but they're few and far between. The rest go for the easy common denominator coverage and, even then, in support of the commentary side because that's where the real money is made.

I think that is actually incorrect in the sense that they have their minds made up before writing the story. The more accurate explanation for all of this is that newsrooms have been decimated. They don't have the institutional knowledge like they once did. Many places no longer have a reporter covering a beat, so they don't have the background to dig deeper into a story. And, probably most importantly, reporters don't have the time to dig deeper into stories unless their editor sees a potential blockbuster of a story. But, there is also a chance the story might turn out not to be accurate, so the editor needs to be willing to take a risk. TV might be the worst. They frequently "rip & read" wire copy, which might be re-written a bit.

Yawn. Where did I say it? Fife is an.honest lefty, Stossel does mostly business and no one in the right mind would call Greenwald a right wing.

ahaaha indeed. Snowden had to run for his life while the men he exposed are "teaching" lefties on the lefty networks. Assange has been imprisoned for YEARS for doing what Bernstein did back in theday. Bernstein "is now "explaining " to the lefties on the lefty networks while Assange is facing a prison sentence. And now Greenwald is "right wing" because the uppity libertarian gay dared to go where the story led. I used to have grudging respect for lefties for their principals, but today's lefties are just partisan whores.

I see where you are coming from and that may play a part. But just watch the first minute or so of this clip. I think he nails it.

Assange screwed up.
He got pissed at Hillary so decided to screw up her election.
Once he did that he was a political operative and not an impartial whistleblower.

The exposed corruption but not during an election.
There was no dirt found in dem/Clinton emails.
Which is why Assange, Rudy and Stone are in legal trouble but not Hillary.

ROTFLMFAO!! Yeah, the timing is the problem...like the MSM suppressing the Hunter's laptop because of the election or Hillary pushing the Russia Hoax right before the election. Sucking and blowing doesn't work. Anywhere(but thanks for the laugh).

Timing was what made it a problem, yes.
If he was a whistleblower and just released the emails nobody would have cared, but instead Assange got the emails from Putin and waited until Stone told him to release them. Within an hour of pussygate.

Hillary didn't push any hoax before the election.
Nobody suppressed Hunter's fake laptop either, they just recognized it as disinformation so they left it alone.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!! There's ZERO evidence that WikiLeaks got anything from Russia. There's ZERO evidence on how the emails left Hillary's server or the DNC servers. No government entity got a chance to examine them. Thanks for another laugh! Keep it coming.

So what sources of information are more trustworthy?
I think whataboutism is overused, but you need to accept that today's media is horseshit.

It took them a few months from what I can see. The article you posted mentions she graduated in 2021 and worked in Gainsville before going to USA Today.
So they caught her really quickly.
Looking at the list of articles they retracted or flagged they look like mostly BS gossipy filler shit that gets done these days.

So this is exactly what you want to see.
Someone thinks they can cut corners and make up quotes to make it look like they are doing their job better and faster and they get nailed and thrown out.

My bad.
Only glanced at the name since I was more interested in what kind of reporting they had fucked with.
You are a much better man than I… you at least pretend he cares about factual journalism. He doesn’t.

This isn’t about who can be trusted…. It’s just a “gotcha” post. Anything to sew discord against actual news organizations that investigate and print the fuckery going on in politics… and these days those scales are tilted heavily to the right. The GOP are rigging elections, all while claiming the Democrats are rigging elections. It’s a master class in how to steal democracy.

That's what the right wing media tells you so you buy their lies.
Legit media like CBC don't lie, CBC goes so far as to have an ombudsman you can complain to about bias and inaccuracies in stories.

One of the first goals of fascist regimes is to destroy trust in the media.
Frank, do you remember not too long ago when I caught you in a spin? A previous thread was discussing media misinformation. And in regards to reporting facts, you in effect said the CBC was reported what their audience expects.

You didn't say they were objective and unbiased. You didn't say they reported facts. You said the CBC reported what matched the mainstream CBC audience's perspectives.

It's not a big deal, but it inadvertently admitted bias to correspond with the audience's bias. Most of the media reports only what they think will match the sensibilities of their audience.

Heavily promoted? Or allowed to exist in the algorithm because they report crime economy etc that Libs cant deny is happening?

You sound like Left wing voice is the only voice that can exist, but right wing needs to be shut down. Grow the hell up.
Harsh, but at it's core true.
