I thought I'd start a playoffs thread dedicated to all things Leafs. Hopefully it won't be short lived.

So far it's looking like it'll be Tampa in the first round.

Playoffs, as everyone knows, is the great reset. Anything can happen. Hopefully the Leafs stay healthy and play like they really want it.

GO LEAFS GO!!!

The only sure thing about NHL first round playoffs is that there’ll be upsets. I can’t remember when’s the last time all higher seated teams advanced and many times it involved President‘s Trophy winners. So Florida might have been a much better matchup than the two time defending champions for the Leafs. That said, if somehow the Leafs find a way to upset Tampa, this may be the year for the Leafs to go a long way.

There are many things to like about this team in the regular season, one of which is the forward depth. Bunting, Kase, Kempt, Mikheyev and Engvall all have potential to make significant contributions and make a difference. However, it’ll likely come down to goaltending and defence. There will also be tremendous pressure on Matthews and Marner to show if they have finally learned how to play playoff hockey and not just regular season scorers.

Obviously, Tampa Bay has better goaltending than Boston.
Poor attempt at comparing that post to your enlightening Captain Obvious revelation that "smoking causes cancer". You can be read like an open book. LOL.

There a lots of factors that determine how teams match up and goaltending is but one. Better goaltending is always helpful but an elite goaltender like Vasilevsky can steal a series by himself.

Please note: Unlike how you turtle and never respond to when a comment of yours is challenged, I directly addressed your point. Try standing up for yourself sometime.

Leafs will need to shut down Stamkos.
26 points in his final 10 games, including 10 goals 😯

I just hope for an honourable exit. The humiliating chokes , the 4 game sweeps and the way the opposition beats the crap out of Leaf teams seem to define the organization

Unfortunately for Leaf fans this one isn't going to end well for them.

As has been said this team just isn't built to deal with last years champs.

The Leafs will have defensive lapses and Tampa will capitalize. Toronto doesn't have the tending to consistently cover their defensive inadequacies.

They might one or two but over the long haul will not win the series.

I'm not a Leaf fan but wish I was wrong here. Toronto fans have suffered long enough.

In the offseason, Leafs upper brass won't fire Shanny and Dubas because of a record season and career season for many players and they will argue that they lost to the Stanley Cup champions in round 1. Tampa in 7.

I really wish Bunting was in the lineup this evening. Yes, good teams will find a way to win, but that was a dominant line all year and it could mess with the chemistry they had on the top 2 lines. Seems like the Leafs run into these issues. Last year Tavares was out in the first game and Matthews had a wrist injury and couldn't shoot the puck.

I disagree

More suffering please
I find most Leaf fans are intelligent, rational and civil. Unfortunately, a few are complete jerks.

Clearly this will go max games and well ... you know the rest
A key Leaf will get suspended or injured early in the series and Muzzin will get injured later in the series and won't be available for game 7
