I propose the opposite. Assuming the sanctions stay in place and the economy and ruble get pummelled, the quality of life for the typical Russian will decline. And who will the proletariat blame, their leader. He led them into the abyss and the people will know it.

Putin's next move out of desperation is the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, he already set the pre-text claiming Ukraine has chemical weapons, which they don't. This will be a cowardly act and a war crime. Hardly a victory.
