I can see this in two ways: Are you being punished by not being welcome in restaurants or places like that because you didn't get a shot? No. The reality here is, for the greater good we want people to be as safe as possible. You sound like the type that won't wear masks....

The other way, for people losing their jobs because they are not vaxxed....well, I have a more sympathy for them. But, we are required to get our shots before we enter school. And the reason being is that no vaccine is 100% effective. But, if enough people have it, it becomes significantly rarer for people in the group to catch it. So, it makes sense that if someone is not vaxxed and goes to work....they could catch it and have a higher chance of a negative outcome. Or they spread it to their friends and family. All it takes is one asshole to pretend they're fine because they wanna go catch the game at the pub.

We've been doing it for decades already. We can refuse to be vaccinated, you won't be punished. You will be shunned. As it should be.

I was around myself in the 60s and 70s and watched way to much television. I don't remember anything approaching that. Maybe some less well known advertising, but cancer studies were already coming out and the lawsuits had certainly started by the 70s. Have to say bullshit on that one...

Imho in the States specifically I believe the people need a third party option and some leaders with common sense and a understanding of regular hard working people , the left and right all around the world is so far apart they can’t even negotiate any longer
When you have a group that will only call horrible names and cancel someone strictly because they disagree , also the right needs to collectively stand up against the nazis and confederate flag waving righties that are clearly horrible and dangerous ,, now that said how do we get back to healthy government working for the people and not just filling their wallets on both sides of the isle ?? What do liberals believe today?

I need to start by saying that grandstanding about "freedom" and "liberty" are not things Canadians typically did until very, very recently; that was always much more of an American phenomenon that's tied directly to the fact the US rebelled against the British Crown in the 1700s, whereas Canada embraced the Crown and was happily ruled from Europe, starting in the early 1600s with the French and then by the British from 1763 onwards. As you know, we maintain the sitting Monarch as our head of state to this very day.

With respect to your question, "what do liberals believe today", as a "liberal" who is centre-left on some issues and centre-right on others, I would say I believe in being free within a society, but that this freedom does not come without strict responsibilities.
