Lawrence Martin (Globe) - Is Joe Biden doomed already after just one year?

Nov. 15, 2015:
April 2016:
Does Frankfooter know what year this is?? 🤔
You're all over the map and still living that far in the past, moviefan?
First you admit that the warming is happening just as the IPCC warned us, then you claim its not, then you claim its not caused by humans and can't explain what caused it, then you accuse the UN of a conspiracy, then you claim you were always right, each and every time you changed your mind?

I can't keep up, moviefan,.
I know science deniers live in a different reality where the only constant is their faith that they are smarter than all of science, but really, there is no logic to your claims at all.

Franky is a master at one thing- derailing threads. Here goes another one.
Come for the naked ladies, stick around for the popcorn.
Hey, moviefan claimed the Globe and Lawerence Martin were 'leftists', this is all just putting his thinking in context and establishing the credibility of his claims.

Are you saying you're not prepared to spend the next three or four days debating his twice-repeated assertion that we are "now" in November 2015? 😀

Actually, my comment was specific to Lawrence Martin and it's a "claim" Mr. Martin would embrace.

Perhaps Frankfooter can explain to us how he knows more about Lawrence Martin's political leanings than Lawrence Martin.

More extreme idiocy. I didn't say a single thing supporting the IPCC's apocalyptic predictions.

I'm with jcpro on this. If you want to debate the IPCC's predictions, I propose you start a thread about it and allow those of us who can read at an adult level to debate the merits of Lawrence Martin's column.

You quoted yourself saying you admitted there was about 1ºC of warming, as the IPCC projected.
And now you're claiming you didn't say that?

Lawrence Martin is going to cancel your subscription at this rate.

The IPCC existed in the 19th century??? That's pretty incredible considering the League of Nations was only created in 1920. 🤔

Franky, if you want to debate the IPCC's predictions, start a thread.

See, there's another giant science denier jump in logic, this one must go like this:
a) the IPCC projected that we would have about 1ºC by about now
b) humans started burning fossil fuels around the 19th century
so therefore
a + b = c) moviefan believes that the IPCC must have existed in the 19th century

I have say, if I keep track of these and try to build an AI off this kind of thinking I'm sure the results would be just as spectacularly entertaining.
Oh, and to keep it on track, I assume that since you think Martin's journalism is of the utmost quality and his views relevant, so lets try to bring it back on topic.

Frankfooter:

Apart from the fact you think this is the calendar year 2015, the science you're debating is completely beyond you and you're back to posting things that are batshit crazy.

Nonetheless, I take jcpro's earlier point. If you want to debate the accuracy of the IPCC's predictions, start a thread.

Let those of us who can read at an adult level stay on topic.

To help us get past Frankfooter's insane comments and back on track, here is a repeat posting of the Associated Press polling data from Thursday.

The results showed only 28% of Americans want Biden to run again and only 48% of Democrats want Biden to run again.

Unless there is a dramatic change in direction this year, the mid-terms will not be pretty for the Democrats.

In fact, the results may be ugly even if the administration tries to change course.

They never had a course they were following. Pretty much every promise made has either been abandoned or was on a time limit. The only things they did were to finally walk out of Afghanistan, manage to get a one year relief bill now expired, and please the Chamber of Commerce Lobbyists and Construction graft industry.

Other than that his big promise, "Nothing will fundamentally change" he made to donors is holding.

indeed, do you want to go sentence by sentence on the nonsense she's spewing. In democrat party there is no need in intellect, just promise everyone free stuff, open border,
equality, diversity and inclusion and you are king of kings ...and even with these requirements she had to drop out of the race...
Sure.

Those comments were about the accuracy of your claims, moviefan.
The Nobel winning IPCC and the Nobel winning computer modelling were never in question nor did you ever raise anything to doubt them.

You use the same faulty logic here, cherry picking a single poll instead of looking at the averages of all and the context of a POTUS at this point in his term.
Biden's numbers are about average for a president at this point in his term if you look at the real numbers.
What's interesting is that only the presidents at war ever seemed to do better, so maybe it's best for his campaign if Russia attacks the Ukraine.
(Not that I think war is ever a good choice, of course)

Well in the latest Opinion Polls, Harris seems to match Biden in the approval ratings. Obviously, she has taken a lot of stick for being the first female and woman of colour VP.
But give her time as there is the bias towards such people of colour, that will always take it's toll due to constant online abuses and stick especially from issues like immigration.
No doubt that over time she will be groomed to be the President once the inflation and this Pandemic are under control:

She had a really bad outlier poll in the late summer early fall where she was at 28% and that touched off a lot of the stories about how she was a disaster. Since then she has gone back to the normal "basically the same as the president".

That said, she does seem to have issues with how she runs an office/runs her campaign. Those complaints have been pretty consistent.

As the nominal successor, she is going to be constantly bashed by the Right Wing Noise Machine and that can damage anyone given enough time so she may get taken out before she has a chance to run herself.

Biden has made it crystal clear that he has no intention of abandoning her for now. Yes she has had issues with her staff with resignations etc. But the previous President, someone called I think it is Donny Boy and he had a revolving door in that Whitehouse. More staff were in and out in that short period of time than any other POTUS in living memory. But his base consisting of mainly cult followers praised him for it, even though those staff left with real bad blood!!
