People laughed at MLK as well. Until they stopped laughing. And then they killed him.
See who were inspired by MLK to join his movement. Charlton Heston
was there. Remember that was a time when being politically correct
wasn't in fashion. Actually back then a white guy fighting for civil
right was no more politically correct than being an racist openly.

Activists today like AOC and Greta Thunberg do have their followers.
They are mostly sheeple and libtards though.

The fact that you attract sheeple and libtards doesn't mean your cause is wrong. Jane Fonda wanted the US out of Viet Nam. Was that right or wrong/

and later Charlton Heston was vilified by the left for his beliefs on gun rights
He is very likely remembered for the gun rights rather than supporting civil rights

Activists gave us public schools, public libraries, worker protections, welfare, health care.
Activists ended slavery and continue to work for social rights.

The right wing and corporate interests gave us the J6 insurrection.

Didn't activists bring about landlord-tenant protections in Ontario? How about Workers' Comp? How about Health and Safety laws? How about subsidized daycare? How about gay marriage and other gay rights?

You seem to have an issue with anyone who doesn't have a 9-5 blue collar job.
Assuming for the moment that all the things you list are actually good things, the short answer to your question is, no, activists did none of things you mention. Politicians and political parties did.

I don't have an issue with anyone's job or job experience, until I start paying them to do something useful, and they don't have the right experience to do it well. That's the position we are all in as taxpayers. Time to demand that politicians have useful ideas and at least some relevant experience.

Activists bring issues to the front, politicians deal with them when the ensuing pressure can’t be ignored.
Activism is very relevant firsthand experience.

Let's test your commitment to that principle.

Do you think that the crowds of people who demonstrate against abortion, mandatory vaccination policies, business lockdowns, or who carry tiki torches and say "you will not replace us" are building their capability to serve as politicians?

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical about workplace health and safety laws myself. We need more 11year olds working 15 hour days and falling into the machinery, just like in 1855.

Well, in your eyes they probably are. It's just that their policies are repugnant to the majority of voters in this country and therefore, their views will be ignored.

Yes, but many would recognize they wouldn’t be as effective as a politician who has to serve a large constituency, many who they disagree with.
I understand as a conservative you hate progress and social justice and anyone who works for change. You’ll come around, very slowly.

Liberals are like creative children. They have many ideas, some are good, but most are bad, and children have no means to distill which are which. Children usually favour change for change sake, because that's less boring for them. Being a conservative is like being a good parent. A good parent needs to say no most of the time (because most of the ideas of their children are bad) but also need to be able to say yes to those few creative and good ideas they might have never thought of on their own.

Change should occur slowly, because good ideas only come around infrequently.

Liberals are proud of themselves for driving change. Fair enough. Conservatives are proud of themselves for culling most of the bad ideas of Liberals, but recognizing the few good ones.

Give us some examples of what you speak of, Dutch.

Aside from saying workplace health and safety laws are wrong.

You are such a great illustration of my post about the nature of Liberals.

Your reading comprehension is too low to have a meaningful discussion about such a nuanced topic.

Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. Hours of work are governed by the Employment Standards Act, not OHSA.

having freedoms systematically removed is repugnant to the majority of citizens
I am not an anti-vaxer, however I do firmly believe every individual has the right to determine what does or does get injected into their bloodstream
There is no way in hell I want that decision left up to the moron Justin Trudeau or Doug Ford or the prick in Quebec

Conservatives are like dim witted children who have no spark. They cry when rules are made that affect them and laugh with glee when they hurt others.
They dispose of used motor oil into street sewers because that’s what daddy always did, it’s easier and costs nothing. They don’t consider how it poisons water because they don’t drink from sewers.
