Fact: The Nobel Institute confirmed that Mann's claims that he was a "co-recipient" of the Nobel Prize was total bullshit.

Let's consider Mann's blather about "confusion" (who among us has not at some point got confused about whether they've received a Nobel Prize? 😀). Even if you accept that malarkey, it confirms that Mann will run with things he wants to believe without making any effort to check the facts.

That's not unique to Mann.

Consider this major error from late 2018. A supposedly peer reviewed paper in Nature on ocean warming had some enormous mathematical errors. The errors were caught by a climate "contrarian" who wasn't included in the review process.

The researchers deserve credit in this case for withdrawing the paper.

But we're still left with a very inconvenient question: How the hell did this thing ever get through the peer review process?

Yes, a rarity. A liberal with integrity. Jane Philpott is another liberal (maybe former liberal now) with integrity. When she resigned she said "personal integrity is more important than party (liberal) loyalty".
AndrewX just got called out as Cantaro by the Mods. I would not be trusting his nonesense

This claim sounds like pure bullshit.
Post a link and a direct quote from the Nobels, please.
It's not a "claim," it's a fact.

I posted the link twice already and previously posted the direct quotes from the person at the Nobel committee, but here you go again:

The specific quotes:

"No, no. He has never won the Nobel prize."

"The organization won it. It’s not a personal prize to people belonging to an organization."

As you can hear in the recording, the Washington Examiner also reported on this.

After it was contacted by the Nobel Institute, the IPCC issued a "statement" confirming it is "incorrect" for contributors like Mann to describe themselves as Nobel Prize recipients.

The IPCC said: "The prize was awarded to the IPCC as an organization, and not to any individual associated with the IPCC. Thus it is incorrect to refer to any IPCC official, or scientist who worked on IPCC reports, as a Nobel laureate or Nobel Prize winner."

Indeed, Mann confirmed on his Facebook page that the IPCC had to "clarify" the matter after it heard from the Nobel Institute.

Mann said the Nobel Institute’s director, Geir Lundestad, confirmed the IPCC's statement was accurate - meaning it was "incorrect" for Mann to claim he was "awarded" the Nobel Prize or was a "recipient" of the Nobel Prize (both appeared in his initial legal filing: https://legaltimes.typepad.com/files/michael-mann-complaint.pdf).

Mann was either deliberately bullshitting or is so reckless with basic facts that he never bothered to check.

Oh Boy
You got your self a little cancelling thuggery underway I see
Shameful
“Cancelling Thuggery”??? Wtf are you on?

John…. Mod123 banned Cantaro yesterday for (allegedly) using like 5 handles, AndrewX being one of the others.

I just report the news. The Thread seems to have vanished, or I just can’t find it. Don’t care. Not my problem. I mostly play by the rules.

Thuggery though…. This is why I love you man ( not the creepy sexual way, relax and unpucker your ass).

Cantaro was also Andrewx and also Conil and also another 2 lesser-known screen names, hence he got banned.

You are hilarious and petty.
When did Mann ever claim he won the award by himself?

And you admit that Mann was part of the team of climatologists that won the Nobel Award?
And you think he was 'lying' to claim he was?
And you admit that the IPCC won a Nobel for their work?

By the way, how many Nobel winners have you quoted in your arguments on this board?
Zero?

So you do want to cancel AndrewX
Why? I could not care less

No, actually, I have posted specific quotes (as requested) from the Nobel Institute, the IPCC and from Mann confirming that it is "incorrect" to say the "team of climatologists...won the award."

As for Mann's claims, his legal filing said: "As a result of this research, Dr. Mann and his colleagues were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."

The Nobel Institute stated unequivocally that Mann's claim was "incorrect."

"The organization won it. It’s not a personal prize to people belonging to an organization."

This once again reaffirms that you are functionally illiterate. Either that and/or you are the ultimate "denier."

So you are complaining about the syntax as if somehow this means the IPCC and Mann didn't win the Nobel for their work on climate change.
Its like most of your arguments, picayune and pointless attacks on character, since you can't debate the science or the evidence.

As if this somehow is either important or relevant to discussing climate change.
As if someone who made a claim that the planet wouldn't get warmer than 0.83ºC somehow understands the science better than the Nobels, IPCC, Mann and NASA combined.

The past 7 years have been the hottest on record "by a clear margin," scientists say

Given that people who insist they "follow the science" are supposed to believe in evidence-based conclusions, here is a test for bver_hunter.

Here are two opposing responses to Mann's legal document that said Mann and his fellow researchers "were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."

This is a simple multiple-choice test. Tell us which position you think is correct.

Position 1 - Mann's statement was "incorrect."

Supported by:
- An official with the Nobel committee
- Geir Lundestad, the Nobel Institute's director at that time
- National Review magazine
- The IPCC
- Michael Mann

Position 2 - Mann's statement was correct.

Supported by:
- Frankfooter

I would like to believe this is a pretty easy test.

Good luck. We look forward to seeing your answer. 👍

The Nobel Institute, the IPCC and Mann himself all said that's exactly what it means.

The award went to the IPCC and Al Gore. Contributors to the IPCC report did NOT "win the Nobel."

The fact Al Gore won a Noble prize diminishes its value

Ivar Giaever (a brilliant Physicist) returned his Noble prize out of disgust when the IPCC / Al Gore were award a Noble prize

Except you don't play by the rules.

Here's one:

12. Questioning moderation in an open forum is not allowed. Send a PM to a MOD.

This rule, while inelegantly worded, is clearly intended to discourage all discussion by posters of moderator decisions within the forum. I can only conclude that you misread it as meaning that you're only discouraged from disagreeing with moderator decisions. However, posting about moderator decisions, even if in agreement with them, only invites posts from others who may not agree. That would be counterproductive. That's why the reasonable interpretation is that the rule bans all discussion of moderation.

Thus, if you are as committed to the rules as you suggest, you would not discuss any moderator decisions in your posts (leaving aside whether or not you actually understand them or know about them, which you may not, as you are not privy to decisions by moderators concerning other members).

Yes, and here you are trying to slam Nobel winners...
Wrong again! You're still struggling to understand the meaning of the word "incorrect."

In fact, Mann is NOT a "Nobel winner."

By the way, Franky, the word "syntax" refers to how words are placed in phrases and sentences. The word you were looking for in your erroneous sentences in posts 151 and 156 was "semantics." 😃

Except I did not question the Mod. I pointed out to members something that happened.

Clearly, you do not understand what “Questioning” means. Here, I will give an example…

Are you, DutchOven, and JohnLarue the same person using 2 handles?

You see, that is me questioning someone, or their decision.

You are like talking to a brick wall. I explained to you how you should read "questioning" and why. I guess it was lost on you.
