Canada pulls out of this year's Spengler Cup. Poses an interesting problem for Hockey Canada given that the Spengler tournament would have been a good baseline upon which to assemble a replacement team for the Beijing Olympics. Seems almost a certainty the NHL won't be sending its players at this point.

I have a feeling the Winter Olympics are either gonna be postponed or cancelled altogether.

Tukka Rask back with the Bruins. Wonder how that will play out with the diehard Bruins fans? Players are happy as their goaltending has been mediocre and unreliable at best. Fans, however, tend to have long memories.

Yes the tandem of Swayman and Ullmark was inconsistent. Not surprising since Swayman is a rookie. Getting Rask back gives them more stability in the net. Like the East needs another contender

How could a team with Conner McDavid and Leon Draisaitl go 2-11-2 in their last 15 games?

One reason has to be their goaltending.

It's a team sport. They are only two guys on a team of 20 players who can dress for each game. If most of the rest of the team sucks, they can't be expected to carry every game themselves.

Agree. Looks like the Oilers have an "unbalance" team. Maybe trade McDavid and/or Draisaitl for players who can "balance" the team's roster. It's not like the Oilers have actually won anything with McDavid and Draisaitl.

BTW: I think the Leafs also have an unbalance team. Maybe that is why they either miss the playoffs or get bounced in the 1st round.

Uh, I don't think you ever trade away talent like McDavid or Draisaitl unless it's a matter of last resort due to financial reasons. I don't think the Oilers are even remotely close to that where these two players are concerned.

Rather, I think Ken Holland was brought in to adjust the pieces around them. He's in his third season with the team (taking COVID into considerations here), and based on results so far, not sure how impressed I am with his performance, considering his pedigree. What is never obvious though is how his hands might be tied behind the scenes.

IMO the Oilers need more help on defense and goal than another forward (Kane) but I guess you grab what you can when you are disparate.

Actually, I think they need somebody other than just the big 2 who can put the puck into the net. They are too easy to defend against and need the scoring to be more spread out. As great as they are, if those 2 get shut down, which does happen, there is no one else.

I think he needs just one more point to set a career high. Everything seemingly going right for Kadri this year. I don't think anyone ever was doubting his offensive talents, it was his attitude and work ethic holding him back from being a star player. Another motivating factor is that he's in a contract year.
