Nylander has been killing penalties too.
Nylander is playing a better game this year, so far. He's not dragging the puck around the perimeter to no end like he used too, he's focusing the attack directly to the net and he's getting to the front for the pass. He needs to stay consistent and if he puts up the requisite points, he'll be a huge asset.

Tied for most points overall!
They have played between two and as many as five more games than many other teams have.

Leafs have the third best average points per game played in the division. Tampa is 2 behind the Leafs in points but with 2 games in hand. As such Leafs are behind Tampa in points per game.

No game in Calgary as they are in Covid protocol.
A lot of NHL teams will get infected at some point in the season. They should forget the Olympics and use Feb Olympic break to rescheduled the postponed games. The Olympics will be a nightmare but NHL needs the revenue.

I thought that tonight was a prototypical '21/'22 season. Not very flashy (aside from Matthews) but very workmanlike.

They weathered the Oils first half of the 2nd but then, because of Soupy and their skill level, were able to cash in on the few opportunities that they had.

The Leafs were very composed.

Matthews doesn’t seem to be missing Marner much. You could tell he’s pumped playing against McDavid. He normally doesn’t celebrate much for a 5-1 goal in the 3rd.

I’m more impressed with the 4th goal that Nylander set up for Rielly. Again he lugged the puck up ice from the defensive zone and made a prefect pass to Rielly. He’s doing a lot more diligent back checking this season than ever before. So all these years of my criticism on his poor defensive work has finally paid off, he must have gotten the message now lol.

Sorry, what?
Oops. ...a prototypical win for this season. It just seemed efficiently played, like many of their wins this season. Not run and gun like last year, but minding their defensive assignments first and then capitalizing on their chances.

Oilers had the territorial advantage for the 1st half of the 2nd period but aside from that Toronto seemed to be in control.

Wonder how capacity limits will be implemented for games where there are already more than 50% of tickets sold?

Now I have my answer. If you're not a season ticket holder, you're basically fucked. I had bought two amazing tickets for the Dec 29th home game vs. PIT a while ago. Checked my Ticketmaster account and the event shows as now being 'cancelled'. At least for me it is. Site says I can wait up to 30 days for my refund to be completed. No other notification received, no advanced messaging from MLSE. Just quietly 'CANCELLED'.

Can't even express how pissed I am. Tickets were for my teen daughter as a Xmas gift - she's a HUGE Crosby /PIT fan. She's never seen him play in person, nor been to a live Leafs game. Dec 29th is the last time PIT comes to town this season too. Fuck. 😡

EDIT: now it appears as though perhaps all tickets are being cancelled, and available tickets will be re-issued for purchase. Not sure if that means the game will go forward on original date, or if the game itself will be rescheduled. Still no word from MLSE.

EDIT 2: Nope - just fucked.
