Not the actor's job. The actor's job is to know his marks and his lines and to act the scene. Fucking around with a gun is going to break his concentration. Hence a specialist person on the crew.That's the way I see it. I have yet to hear anyone say there's a procedure whereby actors must check a gun once it's handed to them. I mean, it doesn't even makes sense that they would put the responsibility on the actor. Would they just assume every actor has taken a firearm safety course?
