Or they are lying about that part. Time will tell
It wouldn't affect the civil liability and I do not think there is any criminal liability here. So they don't have any real motive to lie.

Yes that’s true, I’m sure part of the investigation they will examine/test the firearm to see if it was defective, worn or not maintained, it’s really not that common It is usually negligence on the person holding the firearm.
Were there not earlier reports of a gun on the set firing without the trigger being pulled?

If the gun is defective, it can go off without the trigger being pulled
While possible, I think thats highly unlikely. His asst. director backs Baldwin's story though:

But how would he be able to see in that split moment whether Baldwin's finger was on the trigger or not.
It just doesnt sound realistic to me. It sounds like a story his lawyer has concocted

Baldwin is not responsible for this. I know some of you are not capable of understanding that, but it does not change the accepted and practiced standards on movie sets. Yes, someone screwed up. It was not Baldwin. He was doing what the director told him to do with a weapon that was not supposed to be loaded, and in fact, was announced on the set it was “cold” before it was handed to him.

The real questions are, who loaded the weapon, and why?

Gun expert clears things up for us

Weapons expert Steve Wolf tells TMZ, yes, if someone drops a loaded gun the inertia of the trigger hitting the ground could cause enough movement for the gun to discharge.

But, Wolf is clear ... if someone is holding a gun, he says it will not fire without the user pulling the trigger. He says some of these weapons have "very light trigger action" ... meaning a gentle tap could cause a discharge. But, he says there can't be a discharge without some trigger movement.
So unless the gun fell and hit the ground, Baldwin had to have touched the trigger in some capacity

You should read the entire thread before you make a comment.
CHECK POST#1😳
Yes you're right, missed the KR. I'm more interested in the title and the interview, where he says he didn't fire or hold the gun. He's already been sued by employees.

Apples to oranges. KR killed in cold blood, Alec did not. He wasn't even responsible for the gun, has as been pointed out many billions of times now by people in the industry. You nutcases areonly going after him BECAUSE of his being a lefty. That is insane.

Lol KR killed in cold blood? He was fleeing from 3 assailants before he shot at them...meanwhile Alec doesn't even think he's not even partially responsible...holding a gun pointed at an innocent person...

He went there with a gun. He shot first. This thread isn't about KR though, stay on topic.

Apparently he's going to say he didn't pull the trigger. Trump did it. LOL

If he didn't pull the trigger who done it? I curious to hear the story.
The CIA colluded with the Mafia and the military industrial complex.
Apparently a shot was fired from the grassy knoll.

You'd need a far better opinion on that - an expert who had examined the gun, was familiar with the type of revolver and the previous malfunctions.

But it's a legal nothing-burger.

Baldwin was going to "shoot" someone with the gun at some point. The gun was supposed to be empty. Special effects would dub in the gunshot sound in post production. So it's assumed that his finger would legitimately be on the trigger and pulling it at some point. What was NOT supposed to happen was that the gun was loaded. That's a crew fuck-up.

So Baldwin is not going to face any sort of criminal liability. But the production is going to face massive civil lawsuits. And that's regardless of whether Baldwin touched the trigger or not. It's all the same result.

in fairness, revolvers do have that potential error because they don't have safety...I don't think there is intent on Alec's part, only negligence...

This is the way I see it. ^^^

This sheds some light on the chance (however slim) that the gun fired without pulling the trigger. But I go back to the fact the gun was handed to him and wasn't supposed to be loaded, especially with a bullet.
