Healthcare workers across the county need to know in advance that when they are going to work they do not have to fear that they'll be harassed. Even if nothing has happened to them , they do not have worry that something just might.
True for any protest. And it is what the police is for: to ensure no violence by the protesters or against the protesters. People can protest if they want to. Hell, we had Indians closing railroads and major highways and police did not do anything to stop it. If protests cause major inconvenience for traffic: put a tape to separate protesters from roads and walkways. But do not take the right to protest based on the reason for protest and apply the same criteria for all protesters be it anti-vax or anti-police.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the draft legislation doesn’t ban protests at hospitals.

It significantly increases the penalties for intimidating or harassing health care workers and users, and impeding access.

Everything in that bill that should be made illegal already is. They just need to start enforcing the laws.

As for a bunch of mooks standing around hospitals quietly with signs and not blocking anything, retards gotta tard, freedom of speech and all that jazz.
Blocking entry ways to facilities of any sort, threatening people, creating a noise disturbance... as far as I know it's all illegal but hardly ever enforced when you have enough people do it because fucknuts seem to think freedom of speech means you can force your speech on people and do whatever you want.

If they are not going to enforce current laws I don't see much point in bring in new ones.

Also i thought it was OK to punch people in the face you don't agree with. Right? Can't really turn around and complain when covidiots do the same thing. I mean in their special needs minds they equate laws they don't like with Nazi Germany.

BC and Saskatchewan are creating protective zones that will prevent protests around hospitals.

Nothing here in Ontario as far as that goes yet, unfortunately. Ford not acting on this need is about as shocking as Kenney passing the buck on it.

But what does it actually add. There are laws about making a noise disturbance, I'd guess there are laws about blocking entry ways.
About the only thing that is legal is standing around politely [aka the Canadian way] holding signs with bullshit on them.

Don't get me wrong. What do you get when you put covidiots into a massive blender... I don't know about you, but I get an erection. *

Sadly if I stood next to a protest with that sign and quietly minding my own business, I'd be half sure the bacon would have no problems hauling off my ass unless ironically I had enough people with me to be considered a riot in which case they would also do nothing

* Dammit, there goes no nut November. Gotta go rub one out now.

Campaign promises from the Libs and NDP, but Ford felt that existing laws were/are sufficient.

I suspect Ford will do his “I’m here for Ford Nation” act for awhile, then do his “I had no choice, thanks to the knuckleheads” routine.

NS introduced legislation which banned protests within 50m of hospitals, vaccine centres, pharmacies, doctors offices etc

Saskatchewan is creating a 50m buffer around hospitals with no protests or signs for 2 years.

BC is doing a 20m buffer around k-12 schools, hospitals and test/vaccination centres.

From the cbc link.

"Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said she will look at the bills, but noted that the behaviours addressed in what the Liberals and NDP propose are already against the law."

So yeah loads of people are bringing in new laws but why. It's already against the law.

It's kinda like the whole, sure we had breakfast but what about second breakfast thing.

Maybe... just maybe Ford is right in this case <gasp> in which case the question is actually, why are the cops not being sent in to smash some tard skulls.
The second question is if they are not going to enforce the current laws, why would you expect them to enforce the new laws.

It's like bringing in a law banning prison rape. Well laddy dah, sure a mans butt shouldn't be violated in prison, but it's already illegal.

Time to make it mandatory. Give them something to actually complain about... except getting a vaccine is a big old nothing burger being safe and well tested.

It increases penalties for existing laws that some provinces are unwilling to enforce, let alone enhance when it comes to hospital protests.

How this will protect health care workers or patients from all the crazies threatening and harassing them in person, in writing, or electronically, I dunno. It didn’t seem to come with a bunch more funding for local police to investigate and stop that stuff, but I’m out of my league here.

I would hope mandatory criminal charges will have some affect on people considering breaking the law, but I doubt they’d understand even if it was explained to them using sock puppets.

And again, it’s up to the province to enforce them.

Does this live up to the election promises of the Liberals or NDP? Not in my opinion. Feels like a mostly empty gesture.

But, it was an empty promise knowing protective zones would be a provincial or regional / municipal decision.

It sends a message and gives the cops specific COVID-related sections to charge. And it probably irons out a few grey areas. I would have to spend time reading it to give the full run down.

The OPs thread title is amusing.
Is there evidence anyone can post that patients or healthcare staff were ever the target of protests outside specific hospitals?
Of course there is evidence. CBC is reporting the story. How much more evidence do you need. :ROFLMAO:
