I just think there might be a conflict of interest there
Nope. In council, he can recuse himself prior to any vote so as not to be in conflict of interest. Tell me where he's in conflict of interest?

You still rely on the radio to tell you the time?
Say you wake up in the middle of night. While playing with your privates, you decide to turn on the radio. You get updates on the news, sports, finance and weather. Then the radio star say it is now "33 minutes past the hour". Does that actually tell you the proper time?

Yes, one of my pet peeves are people who can't tell time. Not saying you are one of them. BTW: What time is it now?

Whats the difference between not being able to sit on the board, and yet still peddling influence during off-hours??!!

Have a look at Martha Rogers tweet from yesterday
I certainly don't agree with everything the Mayor does, but if there's one thing Tory can't be accused of, it's not working enough hours. This guy is on TV giving interviews at 6:00 AM then at city functions in the evenings and also works most weekends. Again, is there any proof he's using his power as Mayor to benefit Rogers? Considering there's lots of reporters and media people who hate the Mayor, I have yet to see anyone spell out where he's in conflict of interest. He's a smart guy and you can bet he's careful enough not to breech ethics guidelines. Unlike our Prime Minister.

I thought he was doing a good job until he brought out the photo speed cameras

It's just a tax though. If I had a choice, it would be a photo radar ticket over a Police issued one.

Photo Radar: Fine (tax).
Police Issued: Fine, possible demerit points, increase insurance premiums.

Most of the time that I wake up in the middle of the night, I take a piss and go back to sleep. I've also heard that some people have a device called a clock, a watch, or even a cellular phone which also tell the time.

Considering it's a tax on people who pose a risk to pedestrians (especially children as they are in school zones)...

You don't turn on the radio to hear if WWIII started while you were sleeping?

Yes, I have all the time telling devices known to peoplekind but I also want the radio star to be able to tell time properly as well.

...
Are you so paranoid that you worry that WWIII started every few hours? That explains a lot.

I maybe listen to 680 when I'm getting dressed in the morning or I'm already on the road and want to get an idea about traffic (though if I really want to know I pull over and check my phone which is much more detailed than what they air every ten minutes). Otherwise I find scanning a few websites gets me the important news much quicker than waiting through 20 minutes of random puff pieces to find what I want to know.

Do you also get confused when they state the time without saying whether it is AM or PM?

No need to say AM or PM but I still get annoyed with people who simply say the time is 22 minutes past the hour when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Helpful hint: don't wake up in the middle of the night!

I somewhat agree with that statement. On the other hand, they often put them in "school zones" where the school is both fenced in and set way back from the roadway. The streets are 4 or 6 lanes wide in some cases and the speed limits are set artificially below what is a reasonable, safe speed. I'm sure these cameras are raking in huge fines as they're on 24/7 including weekends and holidays.

My suggestion would be to double the fines during schools hours. They do this in many places in the US. They use signage with flashing lights to inform drivers of reduced speed limits and increased fines during school hours. This to me is proactive and safety driven. Here, they reduce the speed limit, install photo radar and nail drivers for 41 in a 30 or 51 in a 40 zone 24 hours a day. That's a tax.

Oh boy...

You must be closely related to Dutch Oven... it must be in your DNA...

Oh boy, and you must be a John Tory supporter. It has to be in your DNA.

This is what I was talking about: https://www.blogto.com/city/2021/10/toronto-mayor-john-tory-ongoing-rogers-feud/

John Tory said: "In my spare time I have been to a couple of meetings and I try to settle something down that I think would be in the best interest of thousands of people who work for the company, not to mention their customers," Tory told CP24 this week.

"If I was doing anything, in any meeting on any subject, in my spare time and something came up that required my attention for the city, the city always comes first," he added.

But Martha Rogers has claimed on Twitter that this is not the case.

Others are already chiming in, saying that if Rogers' claims are true, this work is certainly not only being done on spare time, and that Tory may have a conflict of interest on his hands, though his long association with the family began far before his time as mayor.

Experts have weighed in to say that there is nothing preventing Tory from serving both roles at once, though any time spent on the Rogers issue while on the public dime is obviously a point of concern.

Bell objects to the Rogers/Shaw merger citing too much concentration in one company. I remember Harper had this crazy policy of wanting 4 national carriers. France which has double the population of Canada and a much smaller land mass has 4 national carriers.
