Surprised how few people here seem to know anything about corporations. Guessing corp execs have trouble carving out time to hobby, so maybe most Terbites are entrepreneurs in some way.

John Tory ran Rogers for years, hence his credibility with the Board. Ted Rogers started with his father’s radio station (I think CFRB), hence their dominance in radio. Between Rogers and Bell they own nearly all TV and radio broadcasters in Ontario and most in Canada outside of Quebec.

Edward is widely known to be nearly a moron, but in a decades-long battle with his sisters, esp. Melinda, who is much smarter but never ran a business whereas Edward ran cable.

The battle was at a detante with the ousting of Guy Lawrence and hiring of Joe Natale, whom both Edward and Melinda supported.

But Edward has always played a long game, and intends to literally become his father and master of all Rogers business interests.

Those around him mostly block his ambitions because of a fear that he will destroy the company and the stock price, because as I mentioned - he’s a moron.
Guy Lawrence was the worst CEO Rogers has had.

So, what if anything have you said about the Rogers Boardroom battle?
I had nothing to say about it, so I kept quiet. You had nothing to say about it either, yet felt the need to go off on a tangent with an inane post about how you don't like how one radio station announces the time.

These are the kind of cases that corporate lawyers love!

Rich... self indulgent... people... with deep pockets... and lots of time available... to fight wars of attrition... over... and about... nothing... but ego!

The lawyers make themselves... totally available... to their clients... to talk about all kinds... of foolishness and nonsense... while the clock keeps ticking... at top market rates... and when it all finally ends... mostly from exhaustion... on both sides...the lawyers take home... that something extra... they need... to buy that loaded Tesla Model X... or Bentley GT convertible...

The irony... is that the clients... pay through the nose... and there is no reason... for the lawyers to even feel guilty... about the expense... because... these people deserve... what they themselves create...

These cases... are God's gift... to lawyers... although... I still do not understand... why God... would want to be... so generous... to their profession! o_O

Are lawyers charging by the ellipsis now?

An interesting aspect for Blue Jay fans. Edward Rogers has been considered a solid supporter of the Blue Jays and someone who would invest cash in the team when needed. The fear now is his successor will not be as generous.

I'll take responsibility for being the first to mention radio. Simply put, I felt Rogers interests in the radio business started to suffer once under the control of Edward Rogers, whereas it flourished under Ted.
It's just Shack being Shack. Master nit picker, making mountains out of molehills and going apeshit over nothing.

BTW: CityNews (former name 680 NEWS) is actually owned by Rogers so there is a very close Rogers connection.

Really. You don't think blue collar, service industry, white collar workers hobby? Over 100,000 members on the site.

But yes I agree he is a moron. Spend ten minutes with him and its easy to see.

Speaking of radio stations, CityNews (formerly 680NEWs) have some weird announcers/hosts.
They try to tell time without actually saying the actual hour.

Example: It is now 25 minutes past the hour (but they don't tell you the actual hour).
You still rely on the radio to tell you the time?

This alternate board that Ed set up makes me laugh. Spoiled rich kids.

John Tory might not sit on the Rogers board anymore, but he's still collecting $100K annually being an advisor to the company:

John Tory was involved in this- on Toronto taxpayers time.
He has a vested financial interest-sell Skydome for condo development.
His blood is red-Rogers red.
Do you have any proof that Mayor Tory has used his influence as Mayor to benefit Rogers? No, you don't, because he hasn't done anything wrong. He's always been upfront about his association with Rogers. He's also smart enough not to put himself in conflict of interest, unlike Trudeau who's adept at it.

So what. You jealous?

Also sound like Ed is the problem with Rogers at the moment.
