What kind of hobbies do you guys have to get out of the house?
I am looking for ideas.

-Has to be year round.
-Can't be too organized. "Why is your hockey game at 2pm on Saturday this week when it was at 11am on Sunday last week"? doesn't work. I need to be able to kinda just leave if I want to.
-Can't be the gym or the pool, since I have both in my building.
-Obviously I need to enjoy it, because I do want this to be a real thing that I can partake in, but also use it as a way to just get out of the house when I need to.

An old girlfriend of mine had a friend, "Jody", who she would "see" when she needed to get out of the house.
I will work on creating a "friend", but he can't just appear!

What do you guys do?
Thanks for your ideas!

I don't have a gym at home, so that works for me sometimes.
Golf is a good one because it usually involves a bit of time on the road to get there and back and it can be a long day. There is also indoor golf, so it can work year round.
Work. Depending on what kind of job you have, it's my best excuse.

Anything active or social is best for me. If I don’t workout, I’ll go nuts. Golf is good to get out for few hours.

Sports with little equipment - basketball, lawn bowling and the like. More stuff envolved harder to just do on the instant. Volunteer work is good too. Help people and get out of the house and you can do stuff after and say it went long. This can spn off to hobbies with the guys that you volunteer with both real and imagined.

Outdoor
1. Mountain biking
2. Hiking
3. Golf (good for networking and "trips")
4. League play (soccer, baseball, tennis etc... )
5. Garden club ("Honey I'm gonna learn how to grow herbs to help your cooking!" ;) )
6. Model flying club. RC planes from the cheap nerf shit to the $$$ like real replicas.
7. Off roading. Who doesn't want a lifted pickup or ATV or dirt bike.
8. Learn to fly. Buy a Cessna. Spend lots of $ on fuel that can shaved for hobby funds. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
9. Hunting, sport shooting etc... $ and you can fuck off for few days or weeks into the bush (or some sexy bitches legs eh?)

Indoor
1. Pool/snooker (league play and "pickup" games) - you'll be shit unless you practice.
2. Darts (league play and "pickup" games) - you'll be shit unless you practice.
3. Bowling (every week, same time, can join multiple leagues from the pro type leagues to the useless fuckers)
4. Toastmasters (who doesn't need to improve their public speaking skills)
5. Wargamming & RPG (pretty niche, will be a bit of chore getting a group together)
6. Model railroad club <- this is with out a doubt one of the most expensive hobbies out there in terms of hours and dollars. There's not much that even comes close to it. Easy to hide a few hundred $ here and there or afternoons/evening for that matter. Encompasses everything from few thousand dollar layouts to layouts in the high 6 figures/low 7 figures. Plus the basement will be yours in no time, if for no other reason to house your masterpiece. Unless you have money and time steer clear of this one. This hobby board we are part of doesn't come close to the model rail roading $ for those that can't budget.
7. Indoor climbing shit. I doubt your gym has a wall.
8. College classes (yeah they may be at the same time but you know you go out for drinks afterwards to review the lecture blah blah). Who doesn't like to admire young pussy?!?
9 Work. Find a project with lots of visibility and a good likelihood of success but is suffering from perma-panic, disorganization etc... be the guy to right the ship.

I just tell my wife the truth when the itch hits - Heading out to see the peelers, honey, want to come? Sometimes we do go to the clubs together, but I keep extras off the menu those times. We do usually get home and mate like bunnies that night, or the next morning.

So when it comes to role playing games you just need to find a local store that runs them. They will have pick up games all the time. Takes minimum 4 hours per games.

And unless she is a geek she will avoid it like the plague. Take her once into the basement to see the dwellers and she will NEVER worry you are cheating. Nor ever want to come back.

Get a store at least 30 minutes away and she won't ever stop in either.

Various genres to play. Open to new players. If you have any geek in you try it.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

I had already decided (after I posted this originally), that I will be joining a skeet shooting club.
It has been on my list, so it won't be weird.

And... indoor wall climbing was a great suggestion.
I have always wanted to try it.

How about bonin' chicks for money? I heard that's a good hobby.

LOL

In seriousness, you pose a puzzler with gym off the table. It seems the wingman/co-conspirator is a way to go w max flexibility. Find someone from terb who is looking for the same. Actually meet out for a beer. Create backstory on how you met. Ring the Mrs whilst with friend earlier, under guise of "oh I forgot to take out the rubbish" but whilst you have her on have new mate say "hi mrs x" etc. You need to do same for him. Every so often you need to meet legit. Or meet near a bar near your incalls.
Not sure if this is the best solution but if flexible on time you can tweak it accordingly.

I've met a few awesome blokes from here and elsewhere and have had a beer w them as well. It seems we're all unencumbered, but if we were "encumbered" I'm sure we'd cover for each other.

Wouldn’t visiting a MP, SC or a SP meet all of the above requirements?

Monday or Thursday night football could work, going to watch the game with some buddies.

Another surefire thing is physio therapy, "injure" your knee or shoulder and just go for massage regularly or to Physio.
excuse to have a shower when you get home, gets you out of yardwork and some other chores as an added bonus.
