Everytime they go into extra innings, I cringe, they just can't seem to win these games with the man on 2nd rule.

1 for 28 ......is not a playoff team. Guerrero has become an easy out. And Bichette as a lead off hitter is a joke, The last Tiger pitcher has control issues....so Bo swings at the first pitch low and outside and grounds out.

It's not "next year". It's the next 5 years.

That was the whole idea. They wanted to build a core group that would compete for a 5 year window, with more talent coming up the pipe lines, and financial flexibility.

This kids have run out of gas, but they are still learning about they will be right in the thick of things for the next 5 years. (provided they can stay healthy)

Another tough loss for your Jays. Honestly feel bad for you guys.

Seems like every game there's something that derails them.

Bad throw from Semien but as was said by the crew afterwards Vlad wasn't in the best position to field the throw as well.

As well, they were 1/17 with men in scoring position and left 14 men on base stranded.

It's getting painful to watch.

There is an intangible missing. They need to bring in some coaches and managers and another player or two who know how to win and to kick butt. Do we even have a hitting coach to stop the bad first swings? Springer was part of the answer as he has led his team in big games.

They are, which is why I am not down on them or management.

As Phil said, there's always next year to look forward to for this talented group.

And anyways, next year was the year that the Shataplan was supposed to give us a true contender. (I think I just coined a new term, admittedly using a bit of plagiarism.)

They were ripping the cover off the ball on 1st pitches ALL SEASON LONG, aside from the last 3 weeks. That has been the strength of one of the best offensive teams in baseball.

Martin? Give him at least 5 years managing in the minors and/or coaching in the majors. How much experience does he have right now?

I havent missed more than 3 games.....they been losing games all year in late innings...yes, the bullpen has had some awful moments...but the offence shuts down in late innings.....2-9 in extra inning games.

As for first pitches...not an excuse to swing at everything....especially lead off man with a pitcher on mound who walks a lot of hitters.

He may indeed be a good managerial candidate. But he isn't going to be of any help any time soon.

BTW, I don't think that the 'pen blowing leads all year that the offense has given them means that their approach to hitting has been bad. They have a huge run differential, they are very near or at the top in HRs and RBIs, and their team batting average is also very good. If the 'pen had held just 60% of the games in which they lead at inning 7 or later, I think they'd have the 1st wild card spot right now.

Aside from the last few weeks, I think that it's hard to blame the offense. But that's just my opinion.

Kudos for being a good fan and watching so many of their games.

We hope its that long. On talk radio there's already rumors of Semien being gone next year to a big market team because most likely the Jays wont be able to match the contract he's expected to be offered.

Good pitching match up tonight, Lance Lynn, arguably the best pitcher in the AL vs Alek Manoah arguably the best rookie pitcher in AL. It's like a super heavy weight bout, Lynn is 6'5", 270 lbs, Manoah is 6"6", 260lbs. Should be entertaining, even though Jays will probably lose.

September is when we can make ground and find out what this team is really made of.
We have:

3 games vs A's (home)
4 games vs Yankees (away)
3 games vs Rays (home)
3 games vs Rays (away)
3 games vs Yankees (home)

I like this team a lot, but I'm afraid their window of opportunity is all but closed for this season. Their lacklustre relievers (except for Romano) and - to a lesser degree - the recent clutch hitting slump have spoiled their chances.
