This one s from my father, more of a practical thing:
People will put you in a situation to get you to react and gain power over you. Just don’t, don’t react, don’t show your excitement, disappointment, anger. This will take away their power and throw them off balance, making you very difficult to read and predict. As Stewie said: “Don’t turn around, don’t let her see you cry”

You gotta figure out how to be more interesting than the guy she dated before you.

Do what I did. I jumped out of an airplane, and I did it solo and willingly. Not once. Not twice. But three times!
Full disclosure- I was wearing a parachute.
My then girlfriend accompanied me to the drop zone, to watch me and to show support. And to show solidarity, she agreed to do a tandem jump with an experienced diver from roughly 10,000 feet
It became a point of pride for her, and rightly so.

On youtube there are some clips of guys who jumped from a plane sans parachute.
In the freefall they joined up with another skydiver with a chute, They latched themselves together, and soon after the chute opened, they landed safely.

FYI This gf never shit tested me. I guess that willingly jumping from a plane showed her I was not faking my machismo.

Don't take things personal ...what people say about you is about them.
Also you can't give what you don't have ....for example if you don't have love for yourself you can't give love.

This should only be a default setting if all parties agree. In that case, it would also apply to wives.

You are not responsible for her happiness... nor is she for yours.
What you are responsible for is bringing a happy healthy you to the table... as is she.
Sadly... this does not hold true for unhappiness... as you can totally be responsible for someone else's unhappiness.
