I don't drink and drive either.
Why should I be penalized?

Insurance Statistics show way more accidents In Brampton, which indicates more dangerous driving in that area. Should we just make it so no one from Brampton should be allowed to drive?
Just because we are failing to police License testing properly?
Suck it up and deal for the greater good? That another problem today - too many me, me, me, I, I, I people. I am fine with being mildly inconvenienced if it saves ~150+ lives a year and many hundreds of injuries. I would also like to see the costs to implement passed on to the offenders as higher licensing fees. The bad drivers should also bear a much higher percentage of insurance costs.

My 30+ year clean driving record should be rewarded by my paying next to nothing in premiums, yet I get fucked over like millions of others.

Mother is waking up her 5 yo son at 2am:
Johnny, wake up! Uncle Joe is leaving so you need to start his car!
Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Homer asked Lisa to open the window because "the police have daddy's fingerprints on file". ROTFLMFAO!!

No. The problem is too many people willing to give up more and more of our freedoms, and our rights, in a ridiculous effort to conform to the lowest common denominator, and people like you making excuses for the practice. This is a practice that is used as a punishment for those convicted of the crime of Drinking and Driving. Now that punishment will be put on even the innocent in the name of "Greater Good", as determined by some special interest group.

Just like we gave up our right to needing reasonable cause to be bodily searched, when the law was passed that police could breathalyze anyone, at any time, for no reason at all. Like we are all already guilty of something.

Like we all gave up our rights to even have a drink, 2 hours after we park our car at home, because a law was passed that a cop can arrest you for DUI if you blow over the limit up to 2 hours after you have been out of your vehicle, and they don't need a warrant or reasonable cause to do so.

Or that the Government will be able to censor individuals internet content for what ever reason the Government likes, with the new bill that the Feds are ramming through. Further erroding our rights to freedom of expression.

But you just keep going on making excuses for the practice of eroding our rights and freedoms. Dictatorial governments just love people like you.

"The touch sensor applies infrared lights into the engine starting button that detects blood-alcohol levels through the driver’s skin."

What if you've just used an alcohol based hand sanitizer before you start your vehicle? I use one every time I get in my car.

Just get a self driving car. You can still ride no matter how drunk (or in any other drug induced state) you are. Problem solved...

We've had decades to police ourselves and we failed as a society. Now the choice will no longer be ours. I'm actually surprised it has taken so long to come to this conclusion. I'm ok with this as long as the technology works. I don't drink and drive, so no big deal for me. Too many have been senselessly murdered.
Exactly this. All the resources that are put into RIDE and the money it cost clogging up the courts, and it's nowhere close to a level it should be. By far the criminal law that is broken hundreds of thousands of times every day. At some point you have to try something else.

I know you're joking, but I should mention we're way more than 5 or 6 years away from fully autonomous vehicles in Canada.

You think so?

I was under the impression were alot closer then that. Dominos has Pizza being delivered in Houston in self driving car already.

That's in Houston where it doesn't snow. It's a niche market and they're limited to 25 MPH. It'll be a long time before they're available for the general public and traveling at both city and highway speeds in Canada. And they'll be too expensive for the average consumer. How well do you think an autonomous vehicle will work when all the sensors are covered with ice, snow and slush? They also have to get over another hurdle. How will the vehicle tell the difference between a police officer and a pedestrian and be able to follow their directions at an intersection? There's also a liability issue. who's to blame if something goes wrong and someone is injured or killed? I'm just being realistic...

Anyway, I'm way off topic. ;)

All good points, and I have no idea how far they are along with dealing with said issues. It just kind of seemed to me like we are getting close to this.

Anyway, I too am off topic.

You seem pretty extreme. Seems like a similar argument the anti-vaxxers try to make.

I agree with you on this:
Like we all gave up our rights to even have a drink, 2 hours after we park our car at home, because a law was passed that a cop can arrest you for DUI if you blow over the limit up to 2 hours after you have been out of your vehicle, and they don't need a warrant or reasonable cause to do so.

Or that the Government will be able to censor individuals internet content for what ever reason the Government likes, with the new bill that the Feds are ramming through. Further erroding our rights to freedom of expression.
The rest just seems like nonsense to me. We've had decades to change our drinking and driving behavior. Many chose not to, so now the choice will be taken away from us. I am fine with this.

The nonsense you were referring to being my reference to the Government censoring the internet.
Then look up Bill C-10.

I'm so glad that didn't pass. When I heard about Bill C-10 it sounded like something the Cons would do.
