I actually felt like baseball God's were a bit on our side yesterday because Boston's lead never should have been that big. With two runners on, Semien takes what should have easily been ball 4 to load the bases with no outs. Instead it gets called for strike 3 so now there's 2 on with one out. The next batter Corey Dickerson hits into a double play. That horrendous strike 3 call totally change dynamic of the game. This a total character win by the Jays.

A much needed day off before another double header on Tuesday, but I don't think this team is going take it's foot off the gas pedal. If they can stay healthy, I think they going to get in.

there are several scenarios where a better runner scores

think outside the box
Your assuming Vlad is a bad runner because of his size, don't. Vlad is a very decent runner, there's no scenario to think outside the box here...lol. You don't take your best bat of the line up for a game that might last another 3 or 4 innings.

Good win but thoroughly unimpressed with Boston. Don't know how these guys with that rag tag pitching staff and essentially three good hitters (Bogaerts, Martinez, Devers) led the AL East for much of the year.

Pitching Barnes 3 times in two days was plain stupid. Today his velocity was down significantly and was very hittable, as was proven.
I actually thought Boston was ok.

3 1-run wins. Aside from Evaldi / Rojas' appalling melt in game #1, it was an even series. Although I guess you could argue that the Jays' margin in game #4 was perhaps better than just 1 run, because of all the bad ump calls that went against them and the base running errors.

Imagine if Springer was not injured at season's start, they may not be in first place, but they probably have one the WC spots.

He's has 14 HR in 43 games, that extrapolates to 52 HRs in a full season.
Uneven starting pitching and a horrendous pen probably held them back, more than missing GS.

Even without GS, they still have the best BO in the AL by far!

I'm thinking that with Springer's bat , they wouldn't have lost that many of the 1 run loss games.

Anytime Jim Wolf is umping a game with the Jays, expect bad calls going our way.

games no longer last that long with the new rules

vlad is not our best hitter when he is in a slump lol

even the best hitters go cold

i assumed he was a slow runner because of his size

What starter should go into pen? I am thinking manoah because he is a rookie and you do not want him to pitch the whole season as a starter because you could strain his arm

him and pearson should make a great addition to the pen
I would send Matz to BP, he's not the pitcher as he was through his first 4 starts. He gets visibly frustrated on the mound.

I'd go with Matz as well. Stripling seems to more consistently go deeper into games.

Having said that, I heard one analyst say that he thinks that Strip will go to the pen since he has experience there.

Why do members post when the Blue Jays game are on in a thread that's for Blue Jays fans?

Are there actually members here who can't figure this out?

Bad news: Striping pulled from game with left stomach discomfort-oblique injury. These type of injuries take a long time to heal.

Seeing as no diagnosis has been announced, it may be premature for this type of speculation.

From the Jays' website:
Stripling is scheduled to undergo testing on the oblique on Wednesday.
“I don't want to speculate, because I don't know the severity of it," Montoyo said. "But he's not going to make his next start, that's for sure.”

So the only thing I will be critical of shatkins so far, despite the fact they have won every trade and move they’ve made so far, I lfelt they should have traded gritchuk. Your return on gritchuk would have never been better. Now he’s back to being gritchuk

It’s clear that vlad is running out of gas. I hope he gets some some kind of minor injury that keeps him out of the line up for about a week. He needs rest and to reset
