What about Dundas - the city?
Dundas town, now part of Hamilton city, was known as Cootes Paradise and Spencer Creek before name change to Dundas.

Dundas st is named after the town that the street originates in. So rename the town first?? :)

Wonderful idea,

Number Streets east to west.

Number Avenues North to South.

Break it down into zones,

Crescents can be letter A, B, C for the sides you are on.

Zone 1, 4th Avenue, 10th Street A. House number 10A-11.

Goodbye GPS
Then there's going to be controversy about where 1st Street is to be located. You can't make Yonge Street 1st Street because it might make the people in Rexdale in the West or Malvern in the East feel disadvantaged.

The only way to make street and place names non-offensive is to treat them like company passwords. They have to contain at least 8 characters including capitals, numbers and symbols, can't be any dictionary words, must be changed every 30 day and you can't re-use them.

Many NYC streets are numbers, alpha and/or non-human names. For example, I use to hang out at 42nd Street ("The Deuce") and 7th Avenue and Time Square.
"42nd Street is a major crosstown street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, running primarily in Midtown Manhattan and Hell's Kitchen. The street is the site of some of New York's best known buildings, including (east to west) the headquarters of the United Nations, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, New York Public Library Main Branch, Times Square, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal."

The folks that developed NYC were very forward thinking. The idea of having a grand central park within the heart of the city was genius.

Hhmm.....so look what I found about the dude who Kitchener was named after

Herbert Kitchener

Kitchener was credited in 1898 for winning the Battle of Omdurman and securing control of the Sudan for which he was made Baron Kitchener of Khartoum. As Chief of Staff (1900–1902) in the Second Boer War he played a key role in Lord Roberts' conquest of the Boer Republics, then succeeded Roberts as commander-in-chief – by which time Boer forces had taken to guerrilla fighting and British forces imprisoned Boer civilians in concentration camps
This guy sounded like a real asshole. He killed 12,000 Sudanese and also ran a concentration camp for POW's.

Just for fun we should start a fake petition to get Kitchener's name changed.
Lets see if those pussy politicians will cave in to our demands 😂

We should rename it Raymond Luxury Yacht however we should insist that it is pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.

That is the point of having zones, every zone would have a first Street.

The answer to your next question:

Assign the zone numbers randomly using a lottery.

This is great thing to do by removing the names of people who did very bad things to other people specifically people of colours and native Canadians / indigenous people.

Of course, it cannot revert back the past of these horrors that they made. However, there is no need to continue honouring them by having their names / surnames in the public places and street names.

I wonder why do we still have the picture and name of John A. MacDonald in our notes. The notes that still have his pictures and name should be recalled and reprinted with someone else.

People complain that it will cost millions of dollars for the name change. That is good thing because the millions spent will be spent on some companies and people who work in those companies to do all the changes of street signs and etc. So it actually does good things to the local economy to create more works to people from the government's spending to have this name change.

The Mahdists were the ISIS of their day and Kitchener taught them a lesson on taking on a modern superpower, much like Trump did with the actual ISIS.

If they're going to rename Dundas Blvd, it should only be to honour a beautiful human being.

The 14,000 people who signed the petition should be billed for the cost of changing all the street and store signs along Dundas st.
If they want is so bad, they should pay for it

I think all street names should be examined for their dubious history. Was Don Valley a racist pig? How about Mr. Spadina or Mr. Bloor?
Blue Jay Way??
I think this all requires serious consideration.

Really, who gets upset by a street sign. They must lead a very emotional life. I feel sad for them.
I didn’t even know the “legacy” behind the Dundas name and probably 99% of people also didn’t so it’s a total waste of time and money and won’t do anything to help anyone anyway. The money to implement the change could be used for far better causes/projects imho.
