I was wondering what happened to Nancy Dowd, she won a screenplay Oscar for Coming Home, the world should have been her oyster. It didn't work out that way which is bizarre.

Slap Shot is not just a great sports comedy, it's a great film period.

Nancy Dowd was one of the hockey wives in the Hanrahan clip. For some reason she used many alias in films after the 70's.

That's how she made her The Slits film starring a young Diane Lane.

And to make the Nancy Dowd part more bizarre...she wrote Slap Shot after hearing the stories from her brother who played minor league hockey...her brother was Ned Dowd who played Olgie Olgathorpe in the movie.
Greatest hockey movie ever.
I read the director would only cast actors who could really skate.
Old time hockey. Eddie Shore; Toe Blake.
And none of that stinkin' root beer!

The Director was George Roy Hill who previously made Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and The Sting. By the time he got around to directing Slap Shot, he had a bomb with The Great Waldo Pepper which turned out to be a Robert Redford vanity project. He needed a bounce back.

The GOAT is Vladimir Putin!

He skates so fast, he makes everyone look like they are standing still!

Sniper. Both with the KGB and on the ice.

Too bad Kadri wasn’t playing in the same game. His stupidity would have ended with Putin laying face down on the ice and Kadri sent back in a box

The Avs were in control of the series, now Kadri has lit a fire under the Blues. Could the GOAT Putin take such a hit.

Mario Lemieux
when healthy but because he was injury prone I guess that excludes him
so i go with Orr
defense takes more skill than forward and he was clearly the best defensemen of all time
howe because of longevity and his toughness
All good choices but I am curious - did you read any of the other posts in this thread??
Take a look at post #1 and number # 6 in particular.
Actually look at any post other than # 4 and #5 for a clue as to the theme of this thread.

Lol - greatest player, best all time fighter, a legend in his own mind and all round modest and unassuming guy (although he seems to be stuck in a bygone era - a throwback even one might say)

I just wish I had kept his rookie card - imagine what it would be worth today!!!!
It's called delusions of grandeur.
