Except that didn't happen...Faulk was not cutting across the ice, he was skating in a straight line and took a drop pass.
Fine, I’ll re-phrase it. If your going to skate in the middle heading into the other teams zone with your head down, be prepared to get knocked the fuck out. Better?

What play are you watching?
He wasn't coming across the centre of the ice, he was skating directly towards the net.
Secondly, he didn't have his head down, Kadri actually came up with his shoulder to make contact.
Fine, he didn’t cut across centre ice. He skated right down the middle of it...lol. He 100% looked down.

Yes, it was all Faulk’s fault...he should have ignored the puck on his stick and the scoring chance he had and been more prepared for a guy coming from his blindside with a check to his head.

If you don’t want people to get hit, take body checking out of the game, otherwise, if your in a susceptible position to get your clock cleaned, pay more attention to that, just like Eric lindros should have.

Scott Stevens made a a living making people pay for that.

Plays (hits) like those (when the player has possession of the puck) were legal when SS played.
The. St. Louis. Player. Did. Not. Have. Possession. Of. The. Puck.
Hits like that are not legal hockey hits now.

There are rules, you can’t check a player with initial contact being the head.

Scott Stevens retired 17 seasons ago, hockey along with some rules have changed.

He was basically receiving the puck right when he got hit, let’s not splits hairs here.

Really??? Was this an official rule change?
Or do we now penalize someone depending on the outcome and how bad it looked?

Thornton 2 turnovers 2 goals against. I think I may have called this game 2 to 1 Montreal.
Nash came as advertised. Zero offense. He'll be used to protect a lead if Leafs ever get one.
Nylander bounced one off the crossbar with a prone Price hurt.
That Price save on Marner from pass from Nylander was brilliant.
Between Galchenyuk, Engvall, or Brooks I don't know who's coming in.

I just hope Tavares's career isn't over and speedy recovery. He was the most consistent Leaf heading to the playoffs. As I said before this series won't be a cakewalk for the Leafs.

I hope all is well for Tavares and that it is only a bad concussion that does not linger for an extended period. That is probably the best case scenario unfortunately.

A scary incident. at first I thought it may have been a skate neck injury where the trainer based how the trainer was holding that area.

So both favourites in the North went down game 1 and both teams’ two leading scorers got shut out. Goaltending and defence got the job done. The encouraging thing is Nylander played great after Tavares went down. He could be the difference maker if he continues that way the rest of the series.
