Should Pearson still be open to incoming international flights?

For the same reason(s) why Canada is banning passengers on flights from India and Pakistan.
I suspect that those people in Wal-Mart did not just get off the plane from there, including the security people that you specifically mentioned. Don't you follow covid protocol? That should keep you safe.

And I repeat because you have not answered, what post of mine lead you to say "Our friend Shack still doesn't understand why we (and the U.K., France, etc.) are banning flights from India and Pakistan and not all countries", instead of explaining why you were nervous in the Wal-Mart because of a particular ethnic group.

If you cannot produce such a post of mine, I would like an apology for falsely accusing me of ignorance on the topic.

This thread is about people infected with COVID on planes.
BTW: I would be nervous being on the same plane as Bianca as well.
So why did you start a thread specifically about Bianca catching it when this thread about airplanes was already started?

And what did you mean with your post quoted above?

Two different issues.
1) Bianca is an athlete so that thread belonged in the Sports Forum because she had to sit out the Madrid Open.
2) This thread is about people with COVID (even though she said she wasn't aware) flying on airplanes.

Pearson (and other airports) should have been shut down months ago. These variants are coming in on airplanes. The only flights should be essential cargo like food, medicine, vaccines, etc., no humans.

What's the point of banning flights if one can still enter the country via a connecting flight? Who makes these stupid policies? There should have been a complete ban on flights from Day 1. Its going to be a never ending cycle. Trudeau should have followed NZ/Aus. They have no lockdowns and life is running normal.

That when you say things like you that, which is not an isolated incident, a person might come to the conclusion that you may have a prejudice against other ethnicities than from your own.

And if you can be as straightforward, on what basis are you saying, "Our friend Shack still doesn't understand why we (and the U.K., France, etc.) are banning flights from India and Pakistan and not all countries"? I'm sure that you would have enough integrity that you would not consider making claims that you cannot substantiate. Right?

I have a COVID prejudice.
Yet there was an ethnicity that you didn't want to mention. Which one is it? And why did you not want to mention the ethnicity?

Still waiting for a reason why you said that I don't understand...

Precisely to keep ethnicity out of it as much as possible. The concern is the higher risk of COVID. Are you denying that East Indians are not at greater risk of having COVID and that is why Canada banned flights to and from India?

Still waiting for a reason why you said that I don't understand.
If you knew why Canada banned flights from India and Pakistan, then why did you raise ethnicity as an issue? Do you also not know that Mayor Brown is asking for more vaccine per capita than other municipalities because of the higher prevalence of COVID in Brampton and Peel Region? Do you know what is the demographics of Brampton?
Can we assume that you know COVID is most prevalent in Brampton? If not, then read this thread and link.

Based on posts from members so far, the consensus is that the ban on flights to and from India (and Pakistan) is justified, and probably should have been implemented sooner and it has everything to do with COVID and not ethnicity.

That's my point. Those flights are or were bringing in humans (no need to mention race/ethnicity) who will be released into the community (sooner or later) and that is how the variant is spread in the GTA.

Darwinism trumps stupidity. The flights should have been stopped months ago, especially from “ hotspot” countries. Now Canada is a “ hotspot “ country itself poised to make it‘s own “CanadIan variant “
in the near future with at least four variants present and voraciously sweeping across the nation.

Who cares
There are a few positive cases but they are like 2%

In case any of you missed it; Canada infection rate is one of the worst in the world
Considerably higher than places like USA, Mexico, or most of central/south America

THEY should be more afraid of people like me traveling THERE vs we should be afraid of others traveling HERE

We are still early in this pandemic, the future is still uncertain, in fact the only certainty seems to be momentous unprecedented change. Only approximately something like 6% of the world’s population has been vaccinated and a significant amount of the world will never get vaccinated either by choice or by circumstances beyond their control.
Canada is now precariously close to becoming a “hotspot” if not already. Those in Toronto should drive past Sunnybrook Hospital to see the ominous Field Hospital and military presence or downtown to see how many store front businesses that have vanished.
It is still not clear if the vaccinated individuals will continue to enjoy protection from the worst that COVID-19 offers although early indicators look promising. This time next year the picture is likely to look much different than today, hopefully for the better.

The pandemic will hasten China overtaking America as the number one global economy. China is expanding their foreign infrastructure through construction projects, loans and medical aid although their vaccines by their own admission for the COVID-19 vaccines are currently sub-therapeutic. China is poised to become a key player in the exclusive Paris Club. All of this is happening as America contracts abroad.

This current pandemic is perhaps overhyped and is not expected to wipe out the human race. However still many will die increasingly premature deaths The pandemic is still on track to reset and eliminate some economies, travel, leisure activities supply chains and human migration patterns.
