Having successful and monied parents is a great starting point. In addition to having money, their children also inherit their good looks, intelligence and connections. Add to that studying hard and a bit of luck helps too.Disadvantaged can prosper, with luck. One in a hundred? One in a thousand? If you start out with money and privilege your odds are a lot better...
However, bear in mind that Bill Gates came from a middle class (not the 1%) family and dropped out of university. Mark Zuckerberg came from an upper middle class family. Elon Musk from a middle class family.
BTW: I noticed Mr. Musk attended Queen's University, a good university but not quite in the same class (no pun intended) as McGill, UofT and Western. LOL!
BTW 2: It's not true that Steve Jobs was a Syrian refugee.
"Schieble gave birth to Jobs on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco and chose an adoptive couple for him that was "Catholic, well-educated, and wealthy,"[13][14] but the couple later changed their mind.[13] Jobs was then placed with Paul and Clara Jobs, neither of whom had a college education, and Schieble refused to sign the adoption papers.[15] She then took the matter to court in an attempt to have her baby placed with a different family,[13] and only consented to releasing the baby to Paul and Clara after the couple pledged to pay for the boy's college education.[16]"
