Could you link to where you saw this?NHL rules. They mentioned that Matthews would not equal 50 goals in 50 games (this season) because he missed games due to injury. I wonder if they apply that rule to Jack Campbell?

I first heard it on the Leafs sportsnet broadcast. But here's a link, the source is sportslogiq.Could you link to where you saw this?
True, so if Campbell equals Potvin's record, I would note that Potvin wasn't injured. I hope Campbell breaks the record.Goalies don't play every game even when healthy.
My hope is that Nylander is gone well before then. Both Matthews and Nylander are UFAs in 2024-2025. Who do you think stays?
I think Leafs give Matthews near $13-15M/yr and he stays. In 2024-2025 Nylander is UFA and he's gone.
What I like about the Sens is that they play hard. No doubt they are lacking in talent and experience but the effort their guys put in is admirable. The guy who has been disappointing for them was the FA signing Evgeni Dadonov. Only 14 points in 38 games, certainly not the offense the Sens were expecting from him.My Sens are night by night playing a little better and better.
They weren't the best team tonight and didn't deserve the win but they made it close and were very competitive.
There are brighter days ahead for them that is certain.
Having said all that what in the blazes was Chabot thinking with that pass attempt? I'm thinking exhaustion had something to do with it.
It was good to see Pierre Dorion show some emotion.
They remind of the Leafs the first year Babcock was here when they tanked for Matthews. What I like about the Sens is that they play hard. On the bright side the young guys Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, Tim Stuzle have looked good overall. Thomas Chabot has been somewhat inconsistent but he's still only 24 and shows glimpses of his full skillset. The jury is still out on Erik Brannstrom, he's only 21 but I would have thought that the way he was hyped up he'd be better than what he's show so far.

Calgary shouldn't be like that, they have 5/6 of the better players in the NHL, their performance is why their coach got canned...their best players are underachieving. The Flames are awful. I look at that team and all I see are a bunch of average guys, not one elite player. Ottawa is a way tougher opponent night in, night out.
With Buffalo in the league Ottawa has to tank harder to get the best chance on the lottery for #1 pick. They remind of the Leafs the first year Babcock was here when they tanked for Matthews.
They played their balls off and they played well considering they were sorely lacking in elite talent.
Ottawa isn't tanking at all (from my angle), they're just not very talented (with a few exceptions). With Buffalo in the league Ottawa has to tank harder to get the best chance on the lottery for #1 pick.
He ain't flashy. He's consistently professional. Really, a complete player.Fun with figures:
John Tavares has played 183 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs
he has 178 points, almost a point a game (.9727 p.p.g.) and very solid defensively.
Tavares has 4 years remaining at $11,000,000 a.a.v.
