The goof was charged with assault and resisting arrest- CTV news
Of course he was. It's SOP when a cop gets into it whether justified or not. Plenty of cases where the evidence later discloses the suspect was innocent (such as this Montreal case in the news right now).

I’d love to see how you would react when police officers kick open the room door, twist you into a pretzel and then ask you to stop resisting.
I’m sure when they slam you into the ground you will say “thank you sir”.
The thing is 99.9% of cops will give you an order, if you comply you are good to go and they wont escalate it.

This is something that this generation doesnt understand.

When a cop is arresting you it's not time to show em how tough you are, you will lose.

I've been detained multiple times at gun point in my life and didnt get shot. You know why? I didnt act like an idiot and obeyed every command so they were able to do their job

Once you agree to comply, Should the officer still pistol whip you in the face with the stun gun?

Do you think it's fair to give commands while he's obstructing your ability to comply?

I'd like to see video of what happened right from the very beginning here.

I'm thinking that's where the majority of the resisting took place and that is why the cop has him down on the ground.

Still like I previously said the shot to the back of his head is crossing the line here.

Jesus he knows he's being filmed, He's got to realize that in today's world this just isn't going to fly.

You don't care about compliance. Your only concern is with crossing authority.

It doesn't matter what happened before hand, your belief is his badge gives has free rein.

It was excessive force the cop had him in a position where his leg was at an odd angle and would have felt the increasing pressure leading to a compound fracture or dislocation. I did not see any resistance. Then the cop smashes his head on the sidewalk deliberately. The kid was a ragdoll, so there was no way he was resisting.

This video really doesn't prove anything. I have also seen video where someone with a conceal carry permit, but otherwise untrained, failed at an active shooter drill. Take any untrained person and put them in a job that requires months/years of training and they will almost certainly fail at it. Cops spend ~6 months or more at the academy then are placed with a TO (training officer) for more months before they are allowed to patrol alone.

As for the original video it does not show the beginning and that's where the crux of the situation lies. Like what did the young guy do to get into a situation where he needed to be arrested? Did he resist or did the cop just think he was? I have no opinion on the overall situation as I did not see it, only this small portion. But I do question how the guy was supposed to comply with putting his arms behind his back or rolling onto his stomach if the cop was basically forcing him into the ground? He probably should have gone limp and not tense any muscles but it can be difficult when you are in fear. It really is hard to say what was happening and if the guy was resisting or not, only the guy, and maybe the cop, know for sure. And the slap/hit/whatever at the end was not really necessary as backup was there. The cop also seemed a little too wary of the bystanders yelling at them to get back or they were going to be arrested as well, like he was afraid they were going to attack him when his backup was there. Almost like he felt guilty for doing something wrong... Funny, since another bystander went right up to help and the cop barely said anything to him.

I doubt it is the case here since the guy was continuously yelling but if you are forced into a posture where you are experiencing positional asphyxia it is an almost automatic reflex to try to move so you can breathe. I have experienced it a few times without a large man on top of me and it was still quite scary.

Finally, who was the dude in the hi-vis jacket? I couldn't make out the patch on the arm.

Dude is 20 years old, not a kid anymore.

Whatever he did resulted in him being arrested and fucker resisted. Yelled at a cop "get the fuck off of me".

Smartass videographer recorded the incident and served as a fckn heckler by saying "I got him on the video" like it means something. She should've been charged as an accessory for insighting to resist arrest by cheerleading.

Dude resisted arrest, but had no problem to communicate with a bystander and tell her how old he was, very casually.

If I was in cop's shoes, that punk would've been subdued in no time. Entitled generation with 0 respect for law and order.

If you show some resistance...you will get extra force on the arrest....People seem to forget or too dumb nowadays to remember when you're reprimanded by the cops, resisting is the last thing you do...most of the videos taken are when the events are past the initial encounter...People tend to reach for their phones once the situation escalates...cop gave him a few extra taps....i don't see any problem...he didn't sit on his neck either...

Was about to post the exact same thing.

This is basically a video of a cop doing his job.
