is an unmitigated disaster. I've been there a few times (but not since 2000) and thought it was as close to paradise as possible on this Good Earth. Now it is experiencing and could soon experience every possible natural and human disaster known to man (and women). Currently, thousands of its residents are dying from COVID. Financially bankrupt. Tent cities. Crime.

California has always been hated by the right wingers, who since around 1900 has predicted its imminent demise.

If I remember my political history correctly, California was right wing before it made a left (and disaster) turn.

Nonsense. California was never right wing in any of our lifetimes. I lived there during Reagan and it was not right wing then.

There is a big difference between conservative and right wing. Reagan was a union leader forcrissakes.

3 maybe all 4 of the horsemen are appearing in California.
"Four figures in the Book of Revelation who symbolize the evils to come at the end of the world. The figure representing conquest rides a white horse; war, a red horse; famine, a black horse; and plague, a pale horse. They are often called the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse."

In recent history California has been a blue state since 1992.
Of the 19,696,371 California voters registered for the November 6, 2018, general election:[3]
43.5% were Democrats
24.0% were Republicans

So sad but we shouldn't feel smug. Let's see the post-Christmas and New Year cases come in.

Because its a blue state? I don't think you understand how natural disasters work 🤣

As for your other points, none of them are by any means unique to California. For instance Texas has more total covid deaths and 50% more deaths per capita despite being a 'red' state.

Since ~1950, California has had roughly 38 years of Republican Governors and ~32 years of Democrat governors. Sometimes an 8 year run for 1 party, sometimes 4. But basically alternating.

I call bullshit.

1950 is ancient history. 1992 is more recent and much more relevant.

California seems to have more natural disasters than other states. Forest fires, etc. Also, have they ran out of fresh water yet? Even Trump declared California a disaster area and offered federal aid.

California also have other issues worse than other states such as financial insolvency, crime, tent cities, etc. Californians are also fleeing for other states like Arizona, Texas, etc.

I got lost for about a year in LA chasing women. It sure was fun but after 6 months you realize there is no future with them out there. They are fun, superficial and DTF but you can’t have a real relationship. All the adults out there are essentially people that never grew up.

Beautiful hiking, the Malibu canyon is stunning to drive through and when I had enough, I burned every one of my bridges there so I wouldn’t be tempted to return.

During your year out there, did you get a chance to go to the University of California Berkeley? If yes, what was your impression?
