I think this comes from over-saturation where a song gets played so often and for so many years you just can't stand it anymore.

I will catch shit for this but since it's release, I can't stand

Queen, We Are The Champions

From the day it was released I have heard this probably 10,000 times and I just can't take it anymore and change the station when it comes on.

How about you?

Red House over yonder.
I cannot stand anything by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It is bubble gum music. It is too sweet and may stick to your shoes.

Even though I am an Eagles fan, "Hotel California" , a great song, but I have heard it too many times.

I disagree with you MrPrezident. There's nothing insipid about CCR, their music, and more to the point, John Fogerty message has stood the test of time. Fogerty was drafted into the Army Reserve in 1966, and did training at Fort Bragg. He was lucky enough to be discharged before the post Tet Offensive surge. John Lennon called him the Hemingway of song.

A song I can't stand that's a classic is Freebird, too much guitar wanking.

Agree re: CCR.

One song I am tired of is Maggie May by Rod Stewart. The rest of that album still sounds great.

Shack, that along with I Heard it Through the Grapevine are the only two songs that Fogerty didn't write. I saw CC Revisited at the Havelock Country Music Festival, the singer was great but he stumbled through the Marvin Gaye song.

Charley Pride was the headliner, he was awesome!

What finally drove me to Sirius/XM.

I was driving home from a business meeting in Midtown. I prefer listening to the radio rather than clutter my car with CDs, Q107 was on. From Black Creek Dr to just before Langstaff on the 400, I got a heapin helpin of their excellent commercial programming. When they finally decided to play some music, this is what I got...and I was briefly a roadie for these guys lol.

Booooo!!! Hisss! Love CCR.
In spite of Lennon's words, Fogerty wasn't interested in what The Beatles were doing. He wasn't interested in spoiled flower children either, he preferred to hang out with San Francisco's homeless.

Anything from Guns and Roses.
Used to look forward to them releasing new music. Now when they come on the radio I change stations.
Same goes with Aerosmith.
I liked Aerosmith many years ago. Today, I can't stand anything I hear by them.

For the past 30 years, pretty much every single classic-rock radio station in the country has played the absolute shit out of Aerosmith. Aerosmith seems to get far more air time than any other band on class-rock radio, which is why I stopped listening to the radio years ago.

And any time I am forced to listen to classic-rock radio, some bloody Aerosmith song will be playing within minutes -- nearly guaranteed.

You won't catch shit from me! Totally agree, and I am a huge Queen fan.

There are loads and loads of amazing Queen songs that never got much radio play, but radio stations always insisted on playing We Will Rock You/We are the Champions way more than any other Queen songs.

Back when they were seriously overplayed it was:

Tie A Yellow Ribbon - Tony Orlando
I am Woman - Helen Reddy
You're Having My Baby - Paul Anka
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

Actually the only one of these I used to like was Billie Jean, until it got played to death...

I have to admit that those may be my 2 favourite CCR songs. Although covers, they are arguably the best versions.

edit: Also love Suzy Q.

Usually if a CCR song is played it will be Have You Ever Seen The Rain or Lodi, two that I got tired of long ago.
Change it up a bit and play songs like Born On The Bayou or Hey Tonight.
