In Montreal Canadiens news, the club has signed 32 year old defenceman
Jeff Petry to a 4 year, $25,000,000 ($6.25Mm a.a.v.) deal.
He'll be 36 when the contract expires.

He must be a master of the "Montreal System" that Rocky darts Rocker refuses to tell us about.

Trivia for knowledgeable, intelligent and civil board members: What is the connection between Petry, Steve Shutt and Danny Grant?

The Montreal System (Copyright pending) continues to operate at full speed:
Les Canadiens trade Max Domi & a 3rd Round selection to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Josh Anderson.

Isn't that the way that Sam Pollock worked?

I'd heard that Max Domi was perfect for them. He played with a lot of heart. That's the character type of player a winning NHL team needs.

I believe that was a key factor in his acquisition of Steve Shutt.

Steve Shutt was a neighbour to John Candy growing up. First Subban now Domi, when I was asked my op on trading Subban, I turned the other cheek.

Just thought I’d drop in to say I hate the Habs so much that if they were playing the Taliban I would cheer for the Taliban...they fixed Stanley Cups in 1986 and 1993 with some fluky goals and mysterious calls.,.they create an award for a very average player to win, Bob Gainey...they orchestrate a sham HHOF induction of Gainey and Guy Carbonneau, two third-line platers than are unworthy of Hall of Fame consideration.

They signed Josh Anderson to a 7-year contract with AAV of 5.5 million...that seems like a big commitment.

Based on his 2019-20 statistics, quite a commitment.

I don't get it, today is FA signing day and I'm sure there will be better deals.

The Canadiens are garnering more respect from free agents than they used to.
Wayne Simmonds' agent allowed Montreal time/opportunity to make a contract offer to his client.

If they are throwing 7 year times 5.5 mil a year contracts at Josh Anderson I guess more players would listen to what they are saying.

Long time Habs fan and like Anderson the player. My problem is the contract both term and money per year average.

Julien wasn't a fan of Domi. Les Habs needed to get bigger and they did.

If he returns to his 18-19 self all will be good in Hab land.

In the end this is what they end up with for Galchenyuk.. So the bar is quite low.

Let me take a guess. You and your buddies used to pick on kids in grade school a lot right?
