A number of teams (~19) passed up on Konecny, before he was selected.
Including the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Boston Bruins (3x), Ottawa 2x, along with the Maple Leafs
Mark Hunter was in charge of the Toronto draft selections that year.
Hunter did fine in the 1st Round (Mitch Marner).
Okay in the 2nd Round, though should've taken Sebastian Aho, who Carolina took immediately following Travis Dermott's selection

Sure, but the point was at that spot he was picked. About where he was ranked. Not earlier. Leafs rather than take him decided to take a pass and move down. Whoever said he should have been picked earlier? I'm not even saying he was worth picking earlier. All I'm saying is when it came time to pick he was the best player available based on general consensus. Although, understandably their draft strategy at the time was volume since they were so thin. He was touted at the time. He wasn't some unknown.

Unfortunately their draft strategy right now is they don't need 1st round draft picks since their core is young.

Ploy to get traded to a contender. He vetoed Calgary.
Boston's 3rd line beat the Leafs once Kadri got suspended. The whole plan was to have a strong 3rd line with Kadri. Without him 3rd line was mince meat.

Blues won last year with a team consisting of the most Canadians of any. They are Canada's team.

Dubas says he still believes in Cody Ceci. It just adds more doubts to his ability to judge NHL talents. The players he’s picked up in trades so far have made no positive impact and the team has gotten weaker and easier to play against since he took over.

I do respect our teams but I doubt Vancouver's getting anywhere... And as of today....no more flames.
