Habs all the way!! That said I watch little hockey. I am a soccer addict. It's PSG-Atalanta in a few hours. That is excitement ;)

Regarding the crazy overtime game last night that makes no sense... Why not play the first extra period 4 on 4 then if another period needed 3 on 3.

Bruins/Canes into OT. Remember that there are two more games to follow to-day.

I think the NHL needs to find a solution or at least try to find a solution to unlimited OT. (Yes, I know the 3 hardcore Leaf fans here will disagree because they are resistant to any changes.)

A solution to what?
There is absolutely zero issue with unlimited overtime, except in RockSlinger's mind.
I'm guessing your next suggestion will be that goals scored from beyond centre ice count as 2 goals.
Maybe goals scored in the 1st minute or last minute of a period should be worth 1.5 goals?

The NHL is dealing with an event (the Stanley Cup playoffs, quite successfully so far), taking place in the midst of the worst health crisis the world has seen in ~100 years.

Again, 1st World Problem.
Move games to the next day.
It's not like Scotiabank Arena & Rogers Place are booked with concerts and other games right now.
Schedules are pretty open.
MLB manages to function with rainouts in playoffs, without the world burning down.

***MAYBE HAVE A SHOOTOUT AFTER 3 OTs***

Some ideas from real hockey fans. (Meanwhile, the 3 hardcore Leaf fans are still moaning and crying over an MIA thread.) I prefer 3 on 3 myself for the entire OT.

When you're espousing the same ideas as quite possibly the stupidest man in North America who gets paid for his hockey analysis, that tells me without a doubt, that you're on the wrong side of the argument.

On another worldly night, Space Needle is an appropriate backdrop. Insane Columbus - TB game. God bless both teams for a great effort. Enough tho. I believe we should end these games sooner via 3 v 3 or shootout after a time. Whaddya think?

Oh yeah, he also misidentified the CN Tower as the Space Needle.

There's a possibility that all 3 games (yes, 3) could go unlimited OT. The Boston game went double OT.

RockSlinger, overtime isn't unlimited.
It's sudden death.

Proven that it's not unlimited by the fact that the Boston/Carolina game ended as soon as 1 team scored.

NHL bubbles have been successful thus far. The NHL should consider 7 Canadian NHL cities as hubs for the 2020-2021 season. I can't see the Canadian government allowing American teams flying in and out of Canada all year. The border may be closed for another year, even with a vaccine.

My worry about playing ''unlimited'' overtime is that it taxes the players too much and I'm not convinced they are in top shape.

It would be a shame if we lost an abnormally high number of top stars do to injury because of this. They are playing a lot of high pressure games in a short period of time. I always hear in the past of players being in mid season shape and how this is standard to be admired. So not sure what type of shape these players are in now.

This isn't like the games in a normal season. There isn't any coasting. No bottom feeders to rest a few guys against. Every game is high stakes. That's got to take a toll on a player both mentally and physically. Why not come up with something that would all but ensure that a 5 period overtime can't occur. I'm down with going to 4 on 4 if nothing is settled after 1 period myself.

The intelligent and rational members here agree with you. The OT rule right now is unlimited which means OT can theoretically go on forever if no goal is scored. The rule needs a tiebreaker at some rational point.

Marc Bergevin's statement regarding Claude Julien
The Canadiens head coach experienced chest pains during the night and was taken to the hospital...

TORONTO -- Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Thursday that head coach Claude Julien experienced chest pain during the night on Wednesday and was taken to a Toronto hospital for further testing.
Read below for Bergevin's statement regarding Julien's condition.
"Good afternoon. I'm here to inform you of the reason Claude Julien was not here this morning at practice. Claude experienced chest pain during the night. We immediately consulted our doctors and it was agreed to transfer him to the hospital by ambulance. He's presently there and he's undergoing tests to determine the exact nature of his condition. This has nothing to do with COVID.
We don't expect him to be back during this series against the Flyers. Kirk [Muller], Dominique [Ducharme], and Luke [Richardson] will share the responsibility, however, Kirk is the associate head coach and he will assume the responsibility of head coach until Claude's return.....

Yes, I can see How the Canadiens would give someone Chest Pains.
Will this motivate the Canadians, or will they not make it out of the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs vs the Flyers?

When he returns to the bubble does he have to quarantine for 4 days, like Jake Muzzin?
