Sirt if already mentioned this in a previous post but something jarred my memory to mention it again..lol.

Anyone remember this commercial for Darien Lake rollercoaster?

I always thought it was great, the way they made it like those movies about monsters. They used to play it all the time in early 1990's:

I loved riding the Comet at Crystal Beach. Great first hill. You felt like you were going to crash into Lake Erie.

In the early to mid 80's, I used to watch two hours of WWF wrestling. I believe the first hour was 11am-12pm which was WWF Maple Leaf Wrestling, and from 12pm-1pm was WWF Buffalo 29. If you stayed on Buffalo 29, it was followed by 1 or 2 hours of Kung Fu movies such as Five Deadly Venoms. Then around 3 O'Clock All-Star wrestling came on filmed out of BC with all 30 people in attendance in what looked like a high school gym...lol.

A clip of All-Star wrestling where they would interview the wrestlers right after the match at the side of the ring, they would be all sweaty, out breath barley able to talk...lol.

Not quite 70s 80s nostalgia, but I miss retro 80 Sunday at Whiskey Saigon and alternative Saturday at the Phoenix.

Saigon had different floors, so there was a retro 80's night a few times a week on a different floor. I think retro 80's live to air from 102.1 from the Phoenix on Sunday too was it not??

The Gasworks, Piccidilly Tube and Larry's Hideaway!
The Generator. The Jarvis House. The Rondon Tavern. Hotel Isabella. Used to drink in there after work. Went there on a Friday night. All was normal. Went back after the weekend and it had become a gay bar.All the waiters looked kind of pissed. Wearing pink waist jackets and all. Only stayed for one drink.

Robert, in the 70,s my buds and I made it a mission to find the most scuzziest, rundown dumps to drink beer at......one comes to mind..The Islington House on Dundas ST W just west of Islington Ave...we referred to it as the I...many a draft was chugged down in that place.....and one more that comes to mind....The Skyline Draft Room in the Skyline Hotel on Dixon Rd just west of Martingrove Rd....we would sit down and say to the waiter "tray" and he knew what we wanted....and he had a change belt around his waist to click out quarters nickels and dimes....I guess these days you just scan an I phone lol

I was on a similar mission in that time period. A lot of my exploring was in Cabbage Town. Went on a few drunken forays into darkest East Toronto. Found some amazingly old school taverns in the east side in the companionship of workmates from that neighborhood. Would never be able to find them again without help. It seemed to be a search for the dregs. I found them. Used to sit drunkenly in some bar on a Friday night, watching old drunks staring blankly at the wall and wonder what their life stories were and what interesting thoughts they might reveal if asked. Realized, probably nothing. Talk about a misspent youth. Luckily I put some distance from it all.

Anybody remember Frank Soda? He put on quite a show.
Knob Hill Tavern. Amazing. I was drunk and stoned at the time but he wore a stack of hats with the one on top being an illuminated pig wearing a bowler hat, smoking a cigar. He also put a tv on his head which shone a search light on the audience. Or my memory might have taken flight because of the inebriates. Good musician. BC boy I gather.
