I think in all these arguments people forget the exponential nature of infection and death when this virus is not slowed down by distancing and all those other things every country has done when the virus started to get going. And that math was obvious and undeniable when the infections got going before any significant measures were being taken...or before they started to have an impact.

Infections, deaths...all those things were doubling every few days...anywhere from 4 to 10 or 12 days... and at that rate we would have had millions of deaths by now if nothing had been done. That was the curve that the whole world was looking at...and acted on.

So, yes, to one degree or another we flattened that curve. But nothing to stop us from going back there if we let it totally go again. We're not doing that...and the US is not doing that either, although parts might be closer to it, time will tell.

So if you want to compare it to a flu, compare it to the Kansas flu (also known as the Spanish flu) that killed around 50 million out of a world population of around 1.8 billion. This one might not be that bad if left totally unchecked (2.7% of world population), but it's hard to find credible numbers that translate to less than .8% on this one.

Anyway...what is it worth to save a few million lives in terms of economic pain? Every country in the world virtually has come to the same conclusion on that question. It's worth doing what we are trying to do.

Politics of snitching: Dems more likely than Republicans to report neighbors during pandemic

Democrats are far more likely than Republicans to say they'd report neighbors for holding a social gathering in violation of coronavirus stay-at-home orders, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

"There is a huge partisan difference," Rasmussen said. "By a 44% to 31% margin, a plurality of Democrats would turn in their neighbors. By a 60% to 25% margin, Republicans would not. Independents are evenly divided. Other data I’ve released shows that a plurality of Republicans now believe the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Democrats strongly disagree."

Once again, the left-leaners display more common sense in taking the threat of non-compliance seriously.

shutting down the economy based on flawed data from imperial economy which is leading to rising suicides, drug use, domestic and child abuse, destroyed businesses is not commen sense. leftists support the lock downs because they need big govt to live on and survive on.

What do suicides have to do with which party a neighbour belongs to?

Keep cherry-picking , keep grasping at straws instead of being a man and proving us all wrong by licking a handrail at a Covid clinic. You're like that person at a restaurant looking at the food and not wanting to try it because in your mind it will taste horrible. Taste it then all can say, at least he tasted it and can speak from experience. The same goes with the virus, if you actually beat it, you can make the claims and some of us may change our mind and label you as the Covid19 expert instead of the _________, I'll be nice and leave that blank. LOL

typical response from somebody(a covid sheep who lives in fear) who can't be bothered to read the news reports showing the lockdowns are based on false computer coding at imperial college

Never been a Dougie fan but I have to give him a lot of credit, although he could have closed non essential business a few days earlier which I said all along, otherwise he's done an excellent job in the fight against the Coronavirus. Heck he'll even get my vote come next election if he keeps this up and puts the Covidiots on ice.

You can deliver groceries, find a job in an old age home. They are looking for fearless folks to help with the elderly. They've lost over 25 army folks to COVID , they need people. Show us sheep what a big bad wolf you are.

In the US, the national guard is being used to help distribute food for the long lines of folks in cars needing food. However our dear leader has ordered an end to the deployments after 89 days. So they will not get to 90 days where additional active duty benefits kick in!

The miles long lines of cars backed up for hours to get food is amazing similar to the Great Depression days , although I wasn't around! Back then we had leadership in a President (Roosevelt) unlike today where our dear leader spends is days making up nasty names for those that don't praise him. fires all the top people that follow facts and wants to start a new war with China. He thrives on chaos just like in all his failed businesses scams (Trump Univ and shame charity) and bankruptcies.

Yet was enjoying a fun day of golfing today while in the past he bitched Obama should not be golfing. I haven't seen the 89-day reports in the media, I'm surprised.

Don't bother. He's already said he has enough money put away to pay for his escort visits and is just bitching because he likes conspiracies.
