Not sure why you are only singling out the US for the disproportionate amount of cases based on population. They have a smaller multiplier than Spain, Italy or France.

The US multiplier is 7 (% of world cases/% of world population)
France's is 8
Italy's is 12
Spain's is 15

About 35% of all US cases are concentrated in New York and another 11% are in New Jersey. High density populations with large Italian and Chinese ethnicity.
The difference between N.Y. and California is simply staggering. Is it the weather? Density? Strategy? It will be interesting to have a closer look after this is over.

The U.S. Has 30% of the cases with only 4.5% of the population.

Should we compare countries? OK. Apples to apples. In comparison to the U.S. which other countries in terms of percent of world cases to world pop. have a ratio of 7:1 or higher? You are right. It is good to not single out the U.S. Let's compare.

No kidding. Stark differences.

Los Angeles County pop. 10.1 million. Less than 10,000 cases and 300 deaths.
New York City pop 8.8 million. Over 100,000 cases and 7,000 deaths.

What we should be caring about the most is mortality rates. Here are selected figures (using Johns Hopkins website)

U.S. - 3.9%
Spain - 10.3%
Italy - 12.7%
France - 10.8%
Germany - 2.4%
UK - 12.5%
Canada - 2.9%
Australia - 1%

Then start your own thread to discuss this. I want to talk about why the U.S. has such a high percentage of world cases compared to their population. It is 7:1. They have 21,000 deaths. Based on their population they should only have 3,000 cases. As far as I am concerned, that disparity is worthy of discussion.

Mortality rates show who is testing more.
The virus has a similar mortality, between 1-3%, globally.
Countries that are testing more asymptomatic people and more people in general will have a lower mortality rate.

I answered you question twice and when someone compares you dismiss that to. You really have a hard on for the U.S. They also did worse during the H1N1 pandemic. It's their entire system in general whether the Democrats or Republicans are in power.

And I gave a very respectful response:

The things you seem to mention most are based on capitalism. Big business running the country. Insurance companies controlling the health care system. You didn't mention it directly, but the influence of lobbyists. So it is not necessarily that people in the states are ignorant as to their own health compared to people in other countries, it is that they are trapped in a system controlled by big business.

I would infer from that that for the health of Americans it would be better if big business did not control so much. The only alternative that I can think of for that is for the government to take more control, a move in the direction of socialism. That is the antithesis of the basic tenet of Republicanism which is smaller government, more free market. That is what trump is constantly pushing for.

As a trump supporter (did not say tDS or cultist) how do you reconcile promoting free market and small gov't at the same time you seem to say that those things are bad for the health of Americans?
I don't think you responded.

The response of mine you just quoted was directed at Kirk.

I quoted L.A. County as a comparative population but yes population density would explain a lot of the discrepancy. The population density of L.A. County is even far less with 2,100 per sq mile.

There are likely several reasons for this. Probably the most apparent to me is that they have more travelers, in and out, than any other country. New York City is the most diverse population in the world. And one of the highest density population centres in the world. They are driving the numbers. The Northeast US (NY,NJ,CT,MA,PA) has seen by far the largest number of COVID cases.

The US has 1/4 of the world's cases.
Trump gives himself a 10 out of 10.
Hit the link above, it’s only 3rd grade math, I think you have a 50/50 of understanding it

I seriously cant stop laughing at these made up numbers!!! LMAO

Do you actually think these are real world numbers guys???

THEY ARE SIMULATED NUMBERS!!!!!!!!

We have the same simulated type of numbers as well.

The numbers produced are not actual numbers. They are based on models predicting the numbers daily.

As I know of many health care workers in hospitals myself, I can tell you that the numbers on tv are WAY higher than actual numbers at the hospital.

Relax, yes there is a virus but nowhere in the numbers we hear on tv. They dont want us to get too relaxed and start going out again too prematurely. Thats all. A fear tactic. They dont want to undo the success they are having. They just need to scare us a bit longer to win this battle quicker.

So, the numbers you see are simulated. Dont take it as gospel.

Check current stats. Almost 2,000,000 cases worldwide and U.S. is approaching 600,000. 30%
