Ok like this is getting annoying! I'm reading lockdown till summer and this virus will be problem here for 18 to 24 months.

I think it's not going to be gone for a few years. How long do the people on this board think it'll be going on?

until the govts end the lock down or people start protesting when money and food runs out canadians apart from the compliant sheeple will not tolerate this during the hot summer months. Southern Italians already run out of patience

I just watched premier ford on cp24 and a reporter just asked him this exact question. He didn't give a direct answer but hinted on fall. Omg lol.

4 million Canadians are on the verge of bankruptcy and his response (I'm sure from Trudeau direction) health and safety are the government's number 1 concern. Bankruptcies are not.

I think law suits are a big reason .

North America and Europe aren't going to shutdown the economy through the summer and beyond. I bet before summer we will begin to see some activities open up. We all will be wearing masks in close public spaces. Your mom or grandma will be told to stay isolated as much as practically possible.

There is no such thing as a riskless society. Humans are very good at adapting if their governments give them the chance.

PS- MSNBC's anchor Stephanie Ruhle was saying that farmers need to shutdown their operations so as not to put their workers at risk. WTF is she thinking?

My thoughts are we will be back before the end of May with a "new normal"
Specific physical distance laws will come into effect
Mandatory face mask laws will come into effect
Testing will dramatically increase
Non essential border crossings will be closed
It will be a balancing act between number of sick people and Medical Healthcare capacity
We needed to take April off to re-set the new normal make the circumstances especially when the strongest recommendation would of been
to mandatory face mask when the country and the world didn't have enough for the front line

The other day I listened to one of the statements and I was under the impression that commerce will open up after this first wave which is predicted to end late spring/early summer. By then they are hoping to have established very quick and accessible testing as well as intensive tracing protocols. In South Korea, apparently they had an app where you can log in and see where all the sick people are, live, at any time and if they are close to you. I wonder what kind of tracing we will have.. I think once those protocols are in place we can have more normalcy.

I will vote. Only way to get them out of power. Remaining silent is not the answer
The current first past to post system is outdated. Both Trudeau and Trump lost the popular vote yet got voted in. Fail.

Trump banned foreign visitors against the wishes of experts who said it was a bad idea. Turns out it was a great idea and if done earlier, it would have limited the spread altogether. Up until last week Trudeau's experts were telling us that wearing masks doesn't provide protection. Again, dead wrong. These experts are worse than amateur night at the Apollo.

With huge number of infected, U.S. will develop a heard immunity and be able to get back to normal pretty soon (I say, easy up the rules by mid Summer and almost back to normal by September), but they pay high price (in # of dead) for it. In Canada, we are looking up for at at least a year.

Yes because its always a good Idea to trust the news coming out of the prc. Their lock downs were a lot more severe that our are and up to this point, longer.

the only people that should stay home are the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions that are more vulnerable to covid19

I disagree. At some point in time a balance will need to be found between the health part of things vs the economy. It is truly the vulnerable that should avoid crowds.
