Yes because its always a good Idea to trust the news coming out of the prc. Their lock downs were a lot more severe that our are and up to this point, longer.
Considering they are the epicentre I'd say they are the harbinger as well.

The lockdown is important. But do you really think it can go past mid May? I don't think so. I expect the restrictions on service business to be lessened. It will cost over 10 billion per month just for CERB. Let alone the business subsidies and lost tax revenue.

At some point in time a balance will need to be found between the health part of things vs the economy. It is truly the vulnerable that should avoid crowds.
I agree, as most lives taken are elderly we have to restart the economy.

In Ontario most of the deceased are from long term care homes. It was spread from room to room by the care givers as they did not dispose of their PPE after seeing a patient. You have to wear fresh PPE every time you move from patient to patient.

I'd like to think your right. I think there will be a great deal of civil disobedience if it goes on too long. . But for the next few weeks if people keep safe we should start seeing some relief by the end of April.

It will all be determined by the rate of infection, what good is it if the rate stays where it is and we all return to what we were doing 4 weeks ago. People will start to get infected and the rate will go up. Hopefully most of the the infections are isolated and with the warmer weather we will minimized the cases of covid-19. Trump delayed implementing special measure and look at the run away infection rate in the USA. Thirty refrigerated trailer trucks outside NYC hospitals for the bodies. After all we have done, is it smart to back slide?

Everyone can go back to work in June provided we
all follow these guidelines:

a) Keep air conditioning (cooling) to the minimum to maintain
an indoor temperature above 22-25 deg.

b) Make medical masks compulsory for all elderlies
in the street.

c) Self-isolation for anyone upon experiencing
symptoms flu.

Let’s not lose sight that goal was to flatten the curve and not let what happened in Italy happen here. To that effect I think the federal and provincial government are doing a great job. This pandemic came on us pretty quick and the the government wasn’t prepared. We are now getting the infrastructure up and running and soon the government will be able provide the PPE gear, testing tools, medicines and vaccines to combat Covid 19. This take time tho and the only tools the government has now is social distancing.

Our Grandparents and great grandparents went through wars, depressions and pandemics of their own. This is a hiccup compared to those times. The economy bounce back then and it will when this is over.

This will be worse than the Great Depression if the economy’s of the World sit idle. Based on the body count, the numbers lost is small when you consider the population of the planet has 7 billion people. The masses are being fucked over royally.

The crazy hombre south of the border needs to say fuck you WHO and restart life

In Sweden it’s life as normal, Belgium has a lockdown and yet Belgium’s cases and death rate are much higher than Sweden’s....we are only prolonging this while giving up freedom and killing our economy at the same time....
I am watching Sweden...if they end up with around the same deaths as Canada ….this lockdown was not necessary and we destroyed our economy and quality of life...do you think some people will be angry?

Until the vaccine is available.
problem is until they get this under control , it will keep coming back and killing people. I hate this lock down, but I guess we have to do it, or it will never go away. All I can say is I miss my beautiful ladies.

The lockdown won’t make covid 19 vanish. Whole point of the lockdown was to stop the 100s of deaths from occurring virtually at the same time as well as all the hospital visits. Flattening the curve increase the duration we need to deal with each wave. Instead of being a tsunami it is more gentle but they keep coming and coming until a vaccine is found or the virus just stops like SARS did.

My vote goes to option 2. Once the weather gets nice we will all go outdoors. How can the cops and bi laws ticket 30 million people. It’s unconstitutional. Any government that tries to enforce it will be obliterated come the next election. Liberals would no longer have a single seat nor party status, Federally that is

Fords government would be toast at the same time

I'm participating in Option #2 already.

Quarantine the vulnerable. That's how you protect them. You don't quarantine all of society.

I think the higher Obese countries will have to deal with this a lot longer then other countries. Although most countries have higher rates of obesity.Do some research on the countries who are getting reamed by this virus .They tend to have very high rates of Obesity compared to countries, for example Germany, that has lower rates. Every article I have read says being overweight does not help your chances of successfully fighting this virus. If the whole world lost 20-60lbs in the next 6 months it would definitely help our chances.

You clearly don't understand economics or history. The stimulus measures undertaken by government are meant precisely to avoid what took place during the Depression. (Perhaps read up on Keynes or pick up a text on Macro policy.)

Covid just might be the Lord's way of telling people to get in shape. The health movement just got a boost.

I think that it is too early for anyone to predict with accuracy. A 100% return to normal or the future normal will probably only take place when there is a vaccine, but a gradual de-escalation of measures in the meantime is very likely.

If the virus is anything like the Spanish Flu we can expect a second wave when measures are relaxed. You can view charts on how it played out during the Spanish Flu:

Exactly. People are discussing this as if there is going to be a specific day on which everything is magically going to be declared 'normal', when it is clear that unwinding of measures already in place is going to have to be incremental at best.
