It is foolish to think that COVID-19 is not in the general population now. We all need to self-isolate for a few weeks. I put on blue nitrile gloves when I leave my house and wash them before taking them off. Wear those rubber gloves before touching cash money, elevator buttons, and self service cash and checkout machines.
Thinking back to the polio threat when I was a very little kid, that was much more scary to me than COVID-19. Stay calm but probably do not carry on as usual. Take a few precautions. As more people are tested who are asymptomatic or presenting very mild symptoms we may see that the reported COVID-19 mortality rate is lowered because of a larger denominator. But that does not mean the victim could not be you.
Official reports suggest China and Korea appear to be turning the corner. Watch Italy to see how things might unfold here. Further data from anti-viral drug experience may show promise. But for now, types of isolation may be the best policy options.
