Spike Lee now acting like a victim of racial discrimination after being denied entry to MSG via the employee entrance.

Lee says he's been using the employee entrance for 28 years, and no one told him policy had changed.

MSG says they asked him multiple times previously to stop using the employee entrance and instead use either the dedicated VIP entrance, or entrances used by the general public.

Why does it matter when someone asked you, even told you to stop? All that matters is that they can, and did.

Why do you think your color, your celebrity, the cost of your seasons tickets, your time as a fan, or your personal wealth entitle you to something beyond a the seat at every game you paid for?

Personally, getting pretty tired of Spike Lee's perpetual 'Blacks are victims in America 24/7'. How bout, fuck off and go home Spike. The Dolan Family doesn't need your money, your support for the team, or your attitude as much as your ego needs to be stroked at every home game.

Ok but James Dolan is the second coming of Harold Ballard.

Let's not put it all on Spike plate, he has made some good movies.

policy didn’t change. there’s always been a vip elevator for celebrities and a employee/player elevator . Spikes been using the employee elevator for ever and never been a issue.

The Knicks under James Dolan have been a disaster and this incident just another story.

The night this happened was the first day for the Knicks new president. The new era is off to a great start.

Truth will come out that Spike has been abusing the good nature of the team for a long time, even though he's been told before to cut it out, and they finally tired of his crap and said Hey! Fall in line with everyone else, dumbass! Doesn't matter how long he's been a seasons ticket holder or how much he's paid for those tickets - he deserves no special treatment. Pretty sure if he hadn't been buying those tickets, someone else would have. They don't need him at all. He's nothing more than an irrelevant has-been. Time for him to fade away.

You obviously don’t know the position the knicks are in. They have the worst owner in the league. They can’t sign free agents even though the have the most available money. They’ve been at the bottom of the league for the last ten years. The Charles Oakley incident.

The only thing the Knicks have good right now is rj and spike.

On a night that was suppose to represent the start of a new era for the Knicks it sure started with a bang.

Tell me, what exactly is the indispensable 'thing' that Spike Lee brings to this team? and if he was hit by a streetcar tomorrow, the team would be in such dire straits because...?

The Knicks need to wash their hands of Dolan and Spike. Just move on from that horrific era.

Goodwill. And they just lost more of what little they had to begin with. It hurts their business.
Yeah, it's really hurting their business. Regardless of their on court record, they are still averaging 18,800 in home attendance in a stadium that seats 19,800 for basketball. Plus they are 10th in merchandising sales out of 30 teams. The Knicks remain THE most valuable team in the NBA this year, for the fourth consecutive year, at an estimated worth of $4Billion. If Spike Lee disappears, you figure those numbers are going to somehow change dramatically?

Spike Lee is totally irrelevant to the New York Knicks bottom line, which is all that matters.

All those things have a shelf life. Even if the Lee incident has minimal immediate impact, these types of things add up.

As an example, the Leafs were once upon a time likewise invulnerable, maybe even more than the Knicks, sell out every game, waiting lists for seasons tickets etc. etc. even though they were truly a joke But after a while, even Toronto fans got fed up to the point where game day tickets were available and seasons tickets were not in demand. The Knicks are headed down the same road.

Just because of geography, any franchise in New York will be one of the most valuable in their respective league, but if they keep up this shit, they will indeed feel an impact at some time. Even if one particular episode is not big enough to do it, there will be a proverbial straw. And more bad press will not help them:

It's not an unreasonable argument that this is not hurting them, but it is undeniable that stuff like this does not help them.

New York, New York, it's a hell of a town....

From ESPN: The Knicks drew their smallest home crowd in nearly 13½ years Wednesday night, falling more than 3,200 below capacity in a 112-104 loss to the Utah Jazz. The announced crowd was just 16,588, with noticeable patches of empty seats throughout an arena that lists 19,812 as its capacity for NBA games.

So much for the idea that this incident will have no effect on their business.

It won't even amount to a rounding error on the balance sheet at the end of the year. Dolan doesn't give even the slightest shit about this temporary blip. It's his team and he'll do what what he wants with it. The players and some entitled fans think they have a say about what goes on with the team. They don't. They're sheep that will just keep on paying, particularly in NYC. Spike Lee is a B-list celebrity at best, and Oakley is barely memorable. Neither would be missed. There might be some minor grousing, but no one is picketing, protesting up and down the street, or 'boycotting' anything in any serious way. Give it a month and it'll all be forgotten, and Spike can enter his basement TV room to watch the game through any damn door of his home he likes, and even sit criss-cross applesauce right up close to the screen whenever he wants. Damn fools who believe this amounts to anything in the eyes of management. Or toe the line and use the VIP entrance as asked.
