You mean numbers like this?

5 on 5 Goals Against since Jake Muzzin went down with a broken foot:

Barrie (114 minutes) 3
Ceci (95 minutes) 5
Dermott ((85 minutes) 5
Holl (98 minutes) 3
Marincin (86 minutes) 2
Rielly (124 minutes) 5

Lowest Corsi, Shots, & Goals Against/Hour
2nd~lowest Expected Goals Against
I think what I am saying is that I think his value is as a fill-in more so than as a top 6 D-man. And his minimum pay 1 year contract indicates that the Leafs, Marincin and his agent all think the same.

The stats you gave, which are good, are all for a small sample size, which is the role they have him pegged for.

A small sample size, yes.
It's all the information we have.

Florida is probably the biggest obstacle on Leafs’ path to the playoffs as it’ll be easier to finish third in the division than to grab a wildcard spot against the stronger Metro Division teams. The same goes for Florida and that adds significant impact on the outcome of tonight’s game.

Probably their biggest game of the season to date. The proverbial 4 point game against their main playoff competition.
TB has won their last 10 games. All in regulation. As good as the Leafs have been under Keefe TB is pulling away from them. Leafs have only lost once in regulation in last 10. Boston has also lost only once in last 10 in regulation.
Florida is on par with points per game rate with Flyers and Columbus so Atlantic may very well still get a wild card spot when it's all said and done.
Last year the Division leaders all lost in the 1st round. All the wild card teams advanced to round 2.

Momentum from strong regular-season finishes.
Last year's playoffs:
Overall, the eight-team collective that advanced (.638 points percentage since Jan. 1) posted a superior record in 2019 compared to the eight-team group that was eliminated in the First Round (.608 points percentage since Jan. 1)
This even with all Division winners losing in the first round.
The Blues effect. They had the best record since Jan 1st and won the cup.

Playoffs do not start in November.

This should be posted in the playoffs thread but that thread could be deleted any time now since Dart started it.

Looks like the oft maligned Nylander should easily score 30 goals and 75 points this year.

Mathews is on pace for 50+ goals. He is 2 goals behind the goal leader today. The last Leaf to lead the league in scoring was Gaye Stewart 74 years ago.

I went back too far, checked to see if Gaye Stewart was a member of the Leafs first Stanley Cup winning team in 1932. He's part of the Teeder Kennedy era.

Three names stand out from the 1932 team: King Clancy, Ace Bailey and Red Horner. Eddie Shore ended Ace Bailey's career with a blindside hit, Red Horner came in and punched the Bruin's lights out. The Cup winning goalie is named Lorne Chabot, he also won the Cup as a St Pat's. He should be better known.

The answer to this is Thomas Chabot of the Ottawa Senators.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
A case could be made that it is partially related to the lack of Stanley Cups. Quite a few leading goal scorers have been Stanley Cup winners

I met Ace Bailey years ago at the Pickle Barrel when it was at Bayview Village. The place was quiet and we were both sitting at the bar. Ended up having a nice chat. Also shared a drinks with Carl Brewer and Brian Williams at the Pickle (different days). Both seemed really nice.
