And that is how threads go off topic. At this point, not one person is talking about the tipping practises of millennials, which I assume is what you wanted discussed.
Would it help if I said Kids these days!!!

First of all it's not your fucking business when I log in on here and in what manner I write about things on here! What are you? A forum police that you track people down when they login, respond or not respond, cross reference fucking threads (you did it to somebody else I noticed)??? You have an argument post it but don't fucking tell me what I can and can't write about on Christmas Day.

So there, I read your post, strikes me as something an insecure 15 year old would write.
Holy crap! For a moment there, I thought you were talking about Shack and his BFF. LOL!

"A Florida waitress who had just depleted her bank account to make a car repair received a $2,000 tip on Christmas Eve from regulars with whom she had shared her financial woes. Lynette Baio said the couple left her a check with the eye-popping amount Tuesday."

https://www.usnews.com/news/us/arti...-waitress-receives-2-000-tip-on-christmas-eve

The restaurant where I used to work as a busboy would require her to put the $2,000 in the pool to be divvy up among the other servers, kitchen staff and busboys.

1)Please don't compare the tone of this post to even one of mine.

2)As I've said before, don't sell yourself short, as you have at least 6 in your BFF (anti-)fan club. Lots of people obviously have a low opinion of your posts. They may be not quite as vocal.

I go to chuck's in brampton as I can walk back to my hotel half or fully gooned. They are cornering the bottom end of the market. They have 6.50$ 30oz drafts and a quite good sirloin burger and fries for 6$. The one in brampton is rough, complete with hookers at the bar. I saw the htg tax also. It's a place to get drunk fairly cheap. Every time I've been in there someone has usually fell over. My kinda place.

I always get the same gay waiter though, which sucks.
Which one? The Queen St. location sucks, and the Hurontario/Steeles location in only slightly better.

Second, don't think that you are somehow smarter than everybody else and the only one with knowledge of how businesses are run and what actually happens behind "closed doors" at places like barber shops, car shops, small stores etc. I hate to disappoint but you are not (so sorry you're being a princess here thinking that you are special and all that, not me). I can assure you (from first hand experience) that business owners remember clients and will treat some differently to others. For example, an asshole like you would not get any discount at a place I worked at long time ago. On the other hand clients that were pleasure to deal with and spent a lot got their coffee, discounts etc. and in some cases were served after hours.

Finally, 95% or so of people would never tip if it wasn't customary, it's just so counter intuitive and senseless when you already paid for goods/services. Including that tip step in POS is an element that helps sales people sell POSs by advertising that feature and telling the owner that it could bump up revenue (again, first hand experience as I was on the other side of the counter when the guy tried to sell one!!!).

So there, I read your post, strikes me as something an insecure 15 year old would write.
You're such a childish idiot.

1 - Your post, like every other post in every thread, has a date and time stamp at the top. Your post I quoted was 12/25/2019 - you know, Christmas. Referencing you logged in on Christmas was simply based on the fact the post I was quoting was, well, written on Christmas. Please do not flatter yourself that I did anything more then...look up at the header of the post - which clearly you are unable to do.

2 - Claim to be smarter than others? Nope, that appears to be your combative posting style from the few times I have seen your gibberish in threads as of late. I will humor you for a moment - somehow there is a connection between the 'quality of service' the tech in the garage is performing on your car and the tip collected by the person working the counter in the front waiting area? Boy you really know how to stretch a defense of your previous post.

I simply pointed out that when you see a POS screen offering the option to tip, you interpet it as begging you to tip - your own words Platon.

As for me, I get discounts when it's appropriate, such as returning to the same garage for 10+ years and the owner and I have become friends over that time. Or visiting a favorite restaurant weekly, getting to know the staff, tipping well (gasp! How dare I?) and now we keep in touch as friends.

You reply filled with assumptions about me in response to my post pointing out the obvious about your initial post in this thread is very 15 year old like - so no surprise you would hurl that insult at the end as well.

You are quite combative and easily riled up it seems - haven't figured out if you need to hobby more, small man syndrome, enjoy being a troll or simply a lounge lizard with nothing much else to do - perhaps combination of both.

Back to the thread topic - Platon is an example of someone who doesn't want to tip unless pressured into it seems and an example of what this thread is about, guessing he's a millennial.

I'm no Millennial, I don't tip SP's but I do tip servers. Really can't compare the 2, a solid is SP is making $150 per hr and up (in cash, which I imagine is not being declared...), the server if lucky is making $15 per hour, maybe $20 per hour with tips.

Makes sense to tip a server, makes NO SENSE to tip an escort.
So this is a concept I don’t get , why would it tip an SP for good service ? Aren’t I already supposed to get really good service if I’m paying like $300 per hour so wtf why would I tip her she is supposed to work for the rate I’m which she sets!!
But if you don’t tip an SP OR MPA your a cheap prick by most of these women . The concept of working hard for you money is gone so many people men and women just expect big money for doing nothing !!!

If she gives good service the SP gets my repeat business. If they think I am cheap paying $250 or $300 an hour the SP can go fuck themselves.

You think the SP gives a flying fuck if I toss them a $20 tip. They want your dick back again for $300

I've had many girls say they don't want a tip. They already know they are getting paid well, they make their money on repeat business not on pissy ass little tips.

And the SPs that post pics on Twitter to thank guys for giving them a of cheap bottles of wine make me laugh and the ones that post pics of LV bags some guy gave them also kill me. The LV bag is either a fake or the SP bought it herself with the money I paid her.

I know I work way harder for the money I earn than they work seeing me for an hour. They should be greatful for what they make. They can alway stop being an SP and go work at Tim Hortons for $15 an hour with no tips.

My New Years Resolution: See no SP that charges $300 an hour an up.

I wonder why they don't tip. Millennials always seem to have money burning a hole in their pockets. Every Starbucks on every street corner is jam-packed with them ordering round after round of strange sounding $10 beverages. I feel like a pauper in their midst. The menu consists of what looks like hundreds of exotic coffees. Is this what millennials were taught in school?

My expectations were not high when I went to a Chuck's Roadhouse a few weeks ago but their commercials made it look appealing and the prices on their steaks looked great. A 21oz. porterhouse was no more than $25 and their steaks are advertised as AAA.

They were fairly busy on a Saturday night and finally a table opened up for us. Just as we were getting seated, this guy (owner? manager?) stops us and says we can't sit there because they needed the table for a party of 21 arriving shortly so we had to sit at the counter, not as amenable for conversing with the rest of our party. The party of 21 never showed.

Most of our main dishes arrived tepid and one was actually cold. But, as I said, my expectations were not high.

Then we get the bill and for some reason I checked it closer than normal and between the subtotal and the tax I see a charge of 3%. I asked the person behind the counter what that was. She said, and I quote "It is an Honest to Goodness fee". WTF?

I paid the bill but before we left I tracked down the manager dude and politely questioned, saying that I'd never heard of that. He said, and again I quote, "It helps us keep our prices down". At that point, still at normal voice level, I let him have it. Your prices are deceptive. We unnecessarily had to sit at the counter, the food was cold and now this stupid, stupid charge and even stupider explanation. He said he was terribly sorry about our experience and then proudly hands me a $10 off coupon for our next meal. (Now that I think of it he had a LOT of those cards in his pocket. Not surprising in retrospect.) I said, but the bad experience was tonight. He said, "That's why I gave you the coupon." Me: "If you were sincerely sorry you would do something for us now." He said that he was sincere and continued to defend. I basically called him out on his bullshit (I did not swear), crumpled up the coupon and saw the incredulous look on his face as I tossed the coupon on a counter and walked out.

Does anybody else have tales of getting overcharged in such a deceptive manner?
Tipping is for the birds but I am wondering HOW the heck you did not notice the "honest to goodness fee"

It is posted (signage) on front door
It is posted on website
It is on EVERY page of the menu, and they even have a full page INSERT which goes into a long verbiage version of it
They even go so far as to explain the math behind it

I have never seen an ad for them (youtube link anyone?) but would be very surprised if it was not mentioned there as well

I kinda suspect the 3% is to give base wage to their wait staff as number is just so random otherwise

A far more deceptive practice is when a restaurant decides that 5+ people at a table equals a guaranteed tip
Or restaurants in places like Niagara who add on a VOLUNTARY tax to your bill (you can force them to remove it but they always drag their feet on it)

Well, nobody in my party noticed it. But that is beside the point. If every item has a 3% markup, not just some, then the actual price is x+3% and should be listed as such. There is no justification for this honest to goodness surcharge. And if anything, having a lower subtotal, in theory, means lower tips for the staff.

Yeah, but millennials don't drive either so its obviously not for them.
LOL! That's a good point.

Since we're picking on millennials, ever notice they buy one cup of coffee and then sit there with their laptops using the free wi-fi for 3, 4, more hours?

I’m a “Gen X’er” and for the life of me can’t figure out why millennials get bashed so much.

WE created them. Well, I didn’t personally, but my generation was the one awarding them trophies for showing up and that tried to “nerf the world” for them.

It’s YOUR fault they’ve grown up incapable of dealing with the slightest adversity.

Why are we even discussing millenials? Should they take up any of our mental energy? Maybe somebody not able to deal with growing older has to bash them to make themselves feel better.

Just pointing out, the millennial generation begins in the early 80s. If you’re in your 30s now, you’re very likely a millennial. All these stereotypes you throw around really apply more to Gen Z. I’m a millennial and I definitely didn’t grow up in nerf world. I had a playground made of wood and metal at my school, I played outside with my friends, we went trick-or-treating on our own on Halloween. I mean, if you’re going to stereotype a whole generation, at least make sure it’s the right one.

How many of them buy a drink to use the wifi and use the place to work since they can't afford the rent on office spaces?
