Overcharging at restaurants

My expectations were not high when I went to a Chuck's Roadhouse a few weeks ago but their commercials made it look appealing and the prices on their steaks looked great. A 21oz. porterhouse was no more than $25 and their steaks are advertised as AAA.

They were fairly busy on a Saturday night and finally a table opened up for us. Just as we were getting seated, this guy (owner? manager?) stops us and says we can't sit there because they needed the table for a party of 21 arriving shortly so we had to sit at the counter, not as amenable for conversing with the rest of our party. The party of 21 never showed.

Most of our main dishes arrived tepid and one was actually cold. But, as I said, my expectations were not high.

Then we get the bill and for some reason I checked it closer than normal and between the subtotal and the tax I see a charge of 3%. I asked the person behind the counter what that was. She said, and I quote "It is an Honest to Goodness fee". WTF?

I paid the bill but before we left I tracked down the manager dude and politely questioned, saying that I'd never heard of that. He said, and again I quote, "It helps us keep our prices down". At that point, still at normal voice level, I let him have it. Your prices are deceptive. We unnecessarily had to sit at the counter, the food was cold and now this stupid, stupid charge and even stupider explanation. He said he was terribly sorry about our experience and then proudly hands me a $10 off coupon for our next meal. (Now that I think of it he had a LOT of those cards in his pocket. Not surprising in retrospect.) I said, but the bad experience was tonight. He said, "That's why I gave you the coupon." Me: "If you were sincerely sorry you would do something for us now." He said that he was sincere and continued to defend. I basically called him out on his bullshit (I did not swear), crumpled up the coupon and saw the incredulous look on his face as I tossed the coupon on a counter and walked out.

Does anybody else have tales of getting overcharged in such a deceptive manner?
Have you ever heard of Niagara Falls?

I dunno. My perspective is that a rate an escort sets is your basic ticket to play. That should get you basic GFE services. But for instance, say she goes out of her way to accommodate a scheduling request, or she indulges my makeup, hair, and/or clothing request, if she offers unsolicited refreshments, if she offers BBBJ vs CBJ, if she offers DFK vs LK, if she's super engaged, passionate and delivers an overall really high quality experience, if she does her best not to be a massive clock watcher then I will absolutely tip her, and if I'm going to tip it will always be a very meaningful tip, not a trivial gesture of a monetary pittance just to say I did. On these occasions, I consider it a gesture of personal appreciation, and an investment in future high quality experiences as a repeat customer.

It's all subjective I guess. I mean like anything in life, if you really feel someone should be rewarded because they did something really special for you, there's no harm in it. I just think when your making $250.00 an hour, most of things you mentioned should be included in the service.

There's absolutely no reason to tip an SP as they set their own rates and make incredible money. There's also no reason to tip a taxi driver. Yes it's a lousy wage but so is working McDonalds, Tim Horton's, Home Depot, etc....

Servers should always be tipped because they make a lower based on the very fact there is an expectation they will get tipped, and it's a much harder job then driving a car.

In Ontario, servers make the same minimum wage as everybody else. Their wages have never been as low as the U.S.

A 2016 study on tipping in Canadian restaurants estimates servers are earning an average of $30/h. At some high end venues, I know servers making several hundred in tips for three hour shifts. These earning keep climbing as price of dining out increases, not to mention rising tip expectations. I'm seeing more and more terminals with 30% tip options.

I've yet to have a server suck my dick enthusiastically for 10-15 minutes straight.

I stand corrected, as it wasn't like this 10 years ago. Servers used to have a lower minimum wage, and it was due to the fact tipping was the expectation.

As far as a server sucking your dick enthusiastically for 10-15 minutes straight, next time your in a restaurant and have a decent looking, offer her $250 hour and see if she takes the bait.
