Whatever network he's on that's cutting the check, is doing it because he gets ratings.
No, he's there because he's tradition, like fruitcake for Christmas.
Nobody eats but its not right if its not there.
Nobody actually listens to him, its always a variation on 'he's not tough enough or he's a good small town boy'.

I can see where he is coming from and where the immigrants are coming from. There are many immigrants that have a "take take" mentality when they come here. They weren't shit in their homelands and come here and try to take as much as they can without out any attempt by many not all to integrate. You go to many areas of the city and the immigrants live as in the old country and they don't care to change. They have no loyalty to the country and are only here for the free health care and relatively easy like. Let's not bullshit if they could many would leave tomorrow if they're homelands weren't such shit holes politically, socially, economically.

Now I have seen this myself especially when you leave the big three cities. Canadians like to say they are tolerant but in reality they are not. You go to Barrie or even Ottawa and the white Canadians and especially the Quebecers can be super cold and unfriendly to visible minorities. So I can understand many immigrants not wwanting to be part of full Canadian society outside of what they need to to make a living because they don't feel welcomed. If more white Canadians tried to really reach out maybe this would help things many visible minorities would feel like they really count here and they would do the "Canadian things" like wear the poppies.

I find the situation here is like this. "I'm here because I have no other options. I will work hard and contribute to the economy and be civil but I won't go out of my way beyond that because you also don't try to meet me halfway either."
That right there is multiculturalism in a nutshell.

Not even worthy of being a news story.

We’ve really become a sensitive eggshell walking society when what he said is deemed outrageous.

I think his passions and intentions are good.
But he’s from a past generation. The world has changed, and he will not/can not.
Best wishes to him but best to not to be in the spotlight any longer.
Retire Don.

BTW: The movie about the famous WW II battle at Midway debut this weekend and led in gate receipt.
We know you like to impress us with your wealth of knowledge but...Focus. Focus. You know. Canadian battles, poppies, immigrants, Don Cherry.

Maybe you want to talk to us about Iwo Jima or Saving Private Ryan. It won Academy Awards, you know.

He does..he's got a lot of support on the net. He so far said nothing about it but TSN apologized. LOL He's 85 years old...
Of course! Youtube and facebook is where cowards go to spout their hate. Not surprising at all actually.

Typical of this day and age. People get offended by everything.

It's disgraceful to see so many people without a poppy on Remembrance Day.
Cherry's message may have been muddled (he's 85 and.. not quite all there anymore), but the underlying message is true.

WEAR A POPPY.

Don Cherry is an irrelevant alcoholic hack.
The sacrifices that our veterans made allow us the freedom to choose to wear, or not wear a poppy.
You nailed it. I’m guessing this senile, diaper-wearing douchebag doesn’t cross paths with a lot of immigrants in his inner circle, so for him to suggest none wear poppies is dumb. And just because you don’t have one, it means you’re unpatriotic? How asinine is that? Ron MacLean, being the little bitch that he is, gave him the thumbs up. Then the shit hits the fan and now Ronnie is back-peddling faster than Ben Johnson on steroids.

Immigrants from Commonwealth countries would be much more likely to be wearing a poppy tomorrow due to a shared colonial history with Canada than other immigrants

the Simple fact is what he said is %1000000 True period end of story
Bullshit...plenty of immigrants wear a poppy, and plenty of born white Canadians don't bother. He stuck his foot in his mouth again (not the first time he has insulted foreigners). You gotta love the old guy for being spirited and patriotic but they should put him on delay so they can bleep out his unfounded racist rants.

lol have you even been paying attention to what Trudeau has been doing past 4 years?
I seriously doubt any vets voted Liberal last month
TeeJay, it may be a lost cause but I'll try again.

To quote Moe Howard, "listen grapehead, I'll explain it so that even you can understand", it was Harper who cut funding to Veterans Benefits, not Trudeau.

And that money you're harping on has already been allocated to deal with disability protocol and suicide prevention. You think that amount of money can be put through the system automatically, it takes time. Veterans Affairs Minister John McCallum had to restructure the mess left by Julian Fantino. I'm willing to forgive McCallum remarks as Chinese Ambassador for the good work he did in that portfolio.

Like Ross Rhae says, "everyone loves a soldier until they stop fighting and come home", nobody gives a fuck about veterans beyond 11/11, that's why the suicide rate has been so difficult to bring down. Cherry doesn't care about veterans, only about himself. I could give numerous examples where his actions don't mesh with his words.

Now I have to get ready to go to Old City Hall, TeeJay will you be there?

I don't get why people got so sensitive about what he said. I don't really like him, never did but I agree with everything he said about "you people" who come here. It's something that has never been talked about due to political correctness (read blindness) so maybe this time around it will get e few people thinking and talking.

Platon, you should refer to Jagmeet Singh's comments, his ancestors came here when Laurier was Prime Minister. Here's a reference point for you, some of the most savage fighting in the Pacific Theater took place in Burma. Who do you think saved British Ass? Yes, that's right "dem people"...Sikhs, Gurkhas, Bengali and Tamils. To quote Maury from Goodfellas, "Fuck Don Cherry, fuck him in the ear".

For those of you who don't recognize Ross Rhae, his handlebar mustache is awesome!
