Already being discussed.

Well how about Austin Matthews, facing disorderly conduct charges in Scottsdale Arizona. An incident in May where AM and a bunch of buddies decided to try and force their way into a female security guards vehicle. After the guard got out to confront the group AM dropped his pants down to his ankles and basically mooned the guard although he kept his underwear on. The entire incident was recorded on security surveillance cameras for all the world to see. Clearly a case of sexual harassment against a women simply trying to do her job. The Leaf organization has stated they new about the complaint but refuse to comment any further.

GTA & Thereabouts...
Nothing against AM, but why in the world would you make a young man a Captain of a team? He's going to be 'young and stupid' and get caught with his pants down (literally)... And especially in our bonkers hot-bed Toronto, Ontario, CANADA market!!!

Tavares is a family man now; experienced and respected. An easy choice. They can't do Rielly as his contract is coming due.

Let's not forget when the media thought Rielly yelled "Faggot" while playing... Jesus Christ himself could not even vouch for him.

Leave Auston alone so he can be a great hockey player. He'll mature into a Captain.

There is precedent. Sid the Kid has turned out pretty well and McGregor in Edmonton.

I still like Rielly better as captain but if it will help the Leafs keep him here longer give to AM.

AM is still a child but he's proven himself in the playoffs, which is more than I can say for Marner. AM should consider himself lucky he wasn't tased, let him make restitution and move on.

I saw Muzzin's hit on the Montreal forward, he should wear the C. Nylander fuck off.

Please tell me that his "group of friends" did not include Marner.

Marner went MIA after game 3 in the playoffs last year. Tavares and Nylander (no surprise) also went MIA. What hurt most was the suspension of Kadri and the injury to Hyman, they are the only forwards who actually hit opposing players on a consistent basis.

BTW: Mathew Tkachuk signed for $6 mm per year.

Dart went Missing after game 3.
Tavaras line played against Bergeron's line head to head. They are considered a super line with all 3 stars. Tavaras and Marner had to carry along an injured Hyman who is far from an elite talent. They stopped them. Played them even 5 of 5. An epic success. Leafs were beaten by Boston's 3rd line and PP. Matthews was left not to have to play against Bergeron and Chara.

Dart conveniently left out term of contract. Actually he does not know significance of term. I would say Leafs successfully got longer terms on their core elite young players whereas other teams failed to do so

Again Dart does not know hockey

Didn't Matthews already do something indiscretionary off ice a year or 2 ago before this incident? or am I mistaken him for someone else?

BTW, that is wrong.

Also, I don't understand the millimetre part.

Long term contracts are a curse. The players know that they will still get paid even if they stink 3-4 or all 5 and 6 years. Look no further than Nylander. Or, Vernon Wells and Chris Davis in MLB.

I still can't believe the Flames were able to sign Tkachuk for only $21mm for 3 years.

You're right, Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby have been terrible ever since they signed their long-term deals.

not always sure...

It seems to me Tkachuck's contract is in line with signings outside of Toronto:
Braden Point - $6.75 million per year x 3 years - 92 points in 79 games; 41 goals
Sebastien Aho - $8.4 million per year x 5 years - 83 points in 82 games; 30 goals
